Re: BU 2013 Offseason Thread - Bring on the Mighty Quinn

So, I'm browsing through the roster news for my hometown ECHL team and getting weirded out by the fact that I may be cheering for John Muse when home for the holidays this season...

Re: BU 2013 Offseason Thread - Bring on the Mighty Quinn

I'll delete it if you find it that offensive. It's not like college hockey gets all coverage in the world. Thought some people might find it interesting.

Perhaps one thread of your own with your weekly updates would be a good idea. Bumping every team's thread at once is actually quite annoying because it buries the other discussion that was going on.

Looking forward to tonight. Will be interesting to see who among the freshmen get into the lineup.

Go BU!

Re: BU 2013 Offseason Thread - Bring on the Mighty Quinn

Forgot to put in my predictions:

4th place
O'Regan top scorer
platoon in net
Sasquatch keeps doing his $#!1 for the umpteenth year
BU2K opens up pot dispensary out of a pushcart outside of the men's room
Scarlet freaks out as team goes down by 1 goal in 1st period of 1st game and declares the season over
Shrader makes his triumphant return to Walter Brown, only dressed in Chicago Blackhawks championship gear instead of Sabres jersey
"Who is this player" baby picture contest cancelled after one of the organizers discovered to be Level 3 sex offender.
Beer continues to be overpriced, but school opens up credit union branch in the arena so you can take out a short term loan to afford it.

My guess would be all of them except for Duane, Dillon and Ryan. Liked MacAfee's willingness/ability to get the puck on net.

HE announced its composite TV schedule. Besides the three NBCSN games announced for BU earlier, the 2/21 BU-Notre Dame game will be on NBCSN and there are several NESN games now shown, including 11/22 UND, 11/23 Lowell, 1/11 Maine and 1/17 BC. Should be up on the HE site soon.

I have to give credit where it is due.

Tonight the bun seemed quite fresh and the hot dog itself was cooked well and was at a good temperature. I think the "tightly wrapped in wax paper" storage and delivery system is an improvement from the boxes of last year. I'd guess that the wax paper wrap holds in the moisture better than the vented box. The chopped onions were there and there were packets of spicy brown mustard.

Kudos to the good execution. My one complaint still woul be that I'm not a fan of the Nathan's product, but all in all a big improvement.

Re: BU 2013 Offseason Thread - Bring on the Mighty Quinn

Congrats to Dave Quinn on his first win and to the team for getting 2 points in the league standings. In general I was pleased with what I saw. It will take a while for this team to come together, but I saw a 60 minute effort, generally good decision-making, and a lot of promise with the talent level.

- Shot totals were a little odd. I thought the game was relatively even territorially. But when BU was dominating, they just didn't put as many shots on as UMass did when they were dominating (parts of the first, almost all of the third). I did not think that the domination in the third was a result of a lack of effort by BU. UMass just found a groove for a while.
- Lots of freshmen out there. Five forwards and two defensemen. I thought all of them fit in pretty well. I didn't realize Baillergeon was so big. Somerby too. Roberto showed good speed. Collier probably has the biggest jump to make. And Tommy Kelley is certainly showing he belongs (beautiful top shelf one timer). But my favorite was Dillon Lawrence. He was all over the ice, with major hustle. Reminds me of the way Lane looked last year, with a little more size.
- Good to have Jim Prior back, but something was going on with the sound system, especially before and after the game - it was very difficult to hear him clearly.
- Sick curl and drag goal by Rodrigues.
- Maguire was outstanding in goal. Made some huge saves.
- I thought the team did a great job blocking pucks and passes.
- Did Kurker go to the doghouse after his second penalty? He didn't see a shift the rest of the game.
- I was disappointed with the attendance. Almost as disappointed as my son and I were when we realized Qdoba is gone! What happened? I see there is one in Kenmore - perhaps too many too close.

Hopefully the team will keep it going tonight.
