Re: BU 2013-2014: Ready to Quinn

A tale of two games.

Great to see them tighten up defensively and start moving their feet in the 2nd and get rewarded for it... And if I'm not mistaken, no penalties in the 2nd or 3rd?

Hopefully a good confidence booster for this young team that carries forward.

Re: BU 2013-2014: Ready to Quinn

Speaking of confidence, Somerby was full of it during that 3rd period PP. Real nice to see. Overall, what a great win, great coaching job. Hopefully we don't see that team that was out there in the 1st anymore.

Re: BU 2013-2014: Ready to Quinn

The bad: The first period was an absolute trainwreck. Forwards have yet to have any chemistry out there.

The good: I love the fight of this team. They don't seem to give up and put a great effort in. A nice departure from recent seasons.

Still a middle of the road team overall IMO. There is some positive upside however.

Oh no!
We Stink again!!

It's so hard to tell who is good and who isn't at this point. I'm happy with a split against a team that was undefeated. We'll likely be under .500 after Friday, but I remain optimistic that the future is bright. How bright this season remains to be seen, but finishing in 4th and the Beanpot and missing the NCAA's isn't hard to top.

Freshmen starters, new coach. Gonna be a lot of ups (hey mookie, we're the best!) and downs (oh no! we stink again!). I've seen more reason for optimism this year than last thus far though.

defkit, BC didn't exactly light the world on fire this weekend. the four points are misleading. and surely providence is a better team than northeastern.

Much agreed. The offense is hard to figure out right now and have played with little flow. They seemed to get it together the last 2 periods Friday. Offensive production is still the number one concern on this team. I pegged BU to finish 6th before the season started. I would up that prediction to 5th right now due to how well Maguire and O'Connor have played so far. I have to see the offense get it together more consistently to raise that any further.

The Friday game easily could've been 6-3 were it not for Gilles stone-cold robbing two shots at a wide open net. Didn't see video of Saturday's game, but the commentary made it seem as though it was a generally well-played game, but the offense didn't totally click enough to get enough solid opportunities on Gilles.

Okay I did my part on the arena questionaire as I blasted them over the price of beer.

I think I predicted something like 4th or 5th in Hockey East and just on the bubble of the NCAA's (I'm guessing they will be somewhere around 15th -18th PWR). That still feels about right to me... but hopefully it is that while seeing steady improvements and milestones through the season as this team grows. Who knows, maybe they will surprise us and do even better!

I would say the PC defense is better than NU's defense, anchored by strong goaltending behind Gillies. Ironically, both Gillies and JG were NU recruits.

any reason why friday is 7:30 but no tv?

i actually wish BC would do this more. tough to get to campus for 7:00 on a Friday night.
