BU 2013-2014: Ready to Quinn

Re: BU 2013-2014: Ready to Quinn

I like Quinn calling out the players. Bringing some accountability to the program should be job #1. I can't tell you how many times BU put up a no-effort stinker and Parker was out in the papers talking about how he liked the team's effort and they just got some bad breaks.

No shame in losing to Michigan but MSU inexcusable.

BU Hockey: Callin' it like we see 'em.

I'm pretty sure it is well known that throwing his players under the bus was Parker's M.O. Yes bringing accountability to the program should be job #1. Which is why the coach should be saying what he needs to do as a coach to better prepare the players for a game.

Yes it sucks to lose two games in a weekend. Yes they should have beaten Michigan State based on the season's early results. However, I would not file that loss as inexcusable. Maybe MSU is just better than they played in their first few games. Either way, BU has a team with a brand new head coach, 7 starting freshmen, and traveled to Michigan to play #4 Michigan in their home rink and then MSU also at home. BU only trailed for what 20 minutes on the weekend? They gave up 5 goals total (one was a penalty shot and one was an empty net goal). Michigan didn't score an even strength goal against BU. I didn't get to watch or listen to the games, but that sounds like a decent effort to me. It's early in the season. As long as they give effort, keep games close and competitive, and continue to improve, that's really all I'm looking for in games against good teams. And again, just don't lose to these teams: Harvard, Bentley, Uconn, Umass, and Northeastern.

Re: BU 2013-2014: Ready to Quinn

Could/Should we have beaten MSU? Yeah. But I'm prepared for a lot of inconsistency from the "could/should" script this season with a new coach and a bunch of freshmen skating.

Also: Mookie.

Re: BU 2013-2014: Ready to Quinn

I was out there for both games and neither game is easy to take. Michigan's first pp goal came on a questionable call on Noonan to put them on the PP. I believe Quinn said he disagreed with the call after the game. The penalty shot was less questionable but I have seen worse stuff get let go.

Saturday night, they played well in the second period but then seemed to just be trying to hang on in the third instead of burying an insurance goal. Going to be real interesting how they bounce back the next 3 games against top 10 teams

That's exactly how I feel. Now, if a pattern continues over the course of the season of not playing well against lesser teams, then I'll be concerned. We had enough of that over the past few seasons.

Re: BU 2013-2014: Ready to Quinn

DUDES!!!!

I am sure Quinny received his WWMD bracelet and should be wearing it... AND looking at it to remind himself to in fact do what Mookie would do!!

Mookie can't throw the ball AND catch the ball!! C'mon!!!

Re: BU 2013-2014: Ready to Quinn

Throwing the players under the bus and whining about the officiating in the postgame press conference? It's like Jack never left.

Meanwhile Jerry is losing control of his team all together. Matheson taking a charging major down 6-1 with under 10 to go isn't a great look. I wonder if he'll sit him down for a game or discipline him in any fashion...;) Can't relate to the players anymore obviously

I never thought Jerry would be the type to send his players out to take cheap shots like that.

Pirate Jerry (sans eyepatch) has a few problems to figure out over the next few months. Matheson is deep down on the list (might need to make that list in braille to help him out). Trying to relate to the modern idea of actually putting defensemen on defense is at the top of the list. But hey it's October and he likes to do that sometimes, but usually at the end of the year (with zero success) rather than the beginning.

In the meantime, I'm going to donate some helmet stickers to the BC program. Matheson gets one for every game he actually finishes without getting booted.

Who would have thunk Cavanaugh was the brains behind the whole operation??? I expect UConn to start rattling off national championships in short order. ;)

Re: BU 2013-2014: Ready to Quinn

Figured I'd bump this thread since it was about to hit the 3rd page. BU has a home and home league series against the 3rd ranked team in the country and a team expected to finish near BU in the Hockey East standings at the end of the season, but I guess when no one's getting arrested and BC's hovering around .500 there's really nothing to talk about.

yeah - wondering where everyone is.....but I guess the Sox have drawn some attention away.

Hoping for a split, which would be much easier to do if they can win tonight. I guess the one positive takeaway so far is that we have good goalies. Now we need to get some past Gilles.

Asking for a sweep isn't too much to ask for right?

In the past few years at least 50% of the conversations were about why Jack should / should not go and who the next coach should be. With that off the table there isn't as much to talk about.

Re: BU 2013-2014: Ready to Quinn

If Parker is still coach they lose that game 4-1. Wow, what an effort. What a game plan in period #2. And that power play. Where have you been all my life?

This team has spunk.

BU Hockey: Death to Dump and Suck. Long Live Dump and Suck.
