Re: BU 2013-2014: Ready to Quinn

I assume that's paid attendance. Don't think it can go much lower given the paid season tickets. Not sure what that # is though

Agganis goes by turnstile count, not paid tickets. Which is why, when they have had sellouts, they have announced attendance hundreds less than the seating capacity.

I believe they had wanted to cap season ticket holders to 2,500 when Agganis first opened if memory serves. Not sure where they are at now.

Where was Maguire? I didn't even see him on the bench and he was supposed to start.

hopefully he was out with buddy recruiting. cause MAN does this team need new players. there may be 8 or 9 hockey players wearing scarlet & white, max.

3,565 tonight.

Will there be a night that we dip below 3,000?

I'm setting the over/under for next week's game against Bentley. (Bentley!!??) at 1,800. Take the under.

This was a God awful showing by the Scarlet and White tonight. They didn't decide to play until OT. #2 was a train wreck all night. They aren't a very good defensive team. Having said that, #5 was the best player on the ice. North of the blue line that is. These are two bad teams people. I thought BU was mediocre, but they were bad tonight.

It's gonna take a few years to get this right. Time to hire some more marketing guys.

“Look at the birthdates. We’ve got guys who are seven years younger than some of the guys out there … that’s just the reality of it. It’s not an excuse, it’s just cold hard facts.”

So, what's he saying? BU is toast, or they're going to have to start recruiting 21 year old freshmen?
Personally, I'll take more talented players every day of the week, regardless of age. ;)

Usually, the players that are that much younger are the USNDTP players, save for a few exceptions (I assume Kurker is young since he cams straight from high school). Given the long list of players from Ann Arbor that have been top players at BU, I'm fine with us continuing to recruit them. But lets not stay away from the older guys (a la Gilroy).

A worthwhile read for anyone who is a fan of BU athletics in general… hopefully the alums keep working hard and are successful in saving the program.

Thanks for posting. This is such a bummer. I was friends with several wrestlers during my BU years (86-90), and while the program has had its ups and downs, it certainly appears to be on the rise at the moment. I'll admit to not having done any other research on this, but if the New Balance contract is really one of the drivers behind this, that is very unfortunate. Carl Adams deserves better. He is all class.

Re: BU 2013-2014: Ready to Quinn

I heard he was hit with the flu. FWIW, same person said Kurker has mono.

Bernie said he was slated to start last night but has been battling a back injury and OConnor got the start instead because of that. FWIW, it was reported going into the weekend that it would be a split series with Maguire suiting up last night.

My best friend's sister's boyfriend said he passed out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

I agree. I've had two season tickets since 07-08 and since they won it all in 2009 I've felt that the crowd and atmosphere in HAA have been in steady decline. While I certainly don't know all the numbers I know it's not nearly as loud, there seem to be many empty seats, and the student section is not what it once was. Is it the quality of play? Is it the increase in prices? The fact the games NEVER start on time? The trouble the team had off the ice? Probably a combination. These are the most expensive seats in college hockey around Boston by far...and maybe in the nation? Can someone look this up? I've got a ticket stub from a BU/BC game in 2007 and it says $14 on it...my ticket this year was over $30. Don't even get me started on the price of beer...

OH...Saturday night? I stayed home and watched the SEC championship game. I tried all week to give my tickets away to over a dozen friends...no takers.
