"The Boston Hockey Blog reports that Coach David Quinn received a call from the Hockey East Coordinator of officials regarding the questionable hitting from behind major penalty to Doyle Somerby in Monday’s Beanpot game. The official acknowledged that it was “a bad call” and should have been diving the other way."

Interesting. I didn't know they actually acknowledged bad calls with phone calls to coaches. I'm also confused about this diving thing. I thought that only applied to BU players. I don't even know how BC players would have learned how to do that.

Of course if it had been a BU player it would have been called, at least last year during that not-so-subtle vendetta after Parker publicly criticized the refs for not calling diving penalties.

Well, after a few prominent officiating gaffes the last couple of games, BU should be in line for some good officiating karma tonight! :D

Tin foil hat time I see, the refs only called diving penalties on BU because of Parker's comments...sure.

I've been following BU hockey for slightly over 20 years (my god, I feel old.) First 18 years, it is very rare that BU was given a diving or embellishment penalty. Last year, Parker publicly berates the refs for not calling diving penalties. All of a sudden, BU receives diving/embellishment penalties in something like 5 out of the next 6 games (for example, I would have to go back and check to be exact.) Since then BU has not received one diving/embellishment penalty after that string. Put the dots together. Refs are people too. I would be ****ed if someone publicly berated me and said I wasn't doing my job.

BU got called for diving in a game vs BC. Parker then expressed his frustration that a diving call was made against BU when he felt like BC was the one diving (and also mentioned that other teams dive a lot). The next game the refs called O'Connor (the goalie) for embellishment. I have never heard of a goalie being called for embellishment before that.

Looks to Mookie that now bu needs to run the reg season table. Win the 1st rd playoff. Then win at least 1 qf game to avoid posting a losing season!!!!!!

Not sure who Bernie is, but apparently he's an idiot.

Josh Holmstrom (Lowell Captain) is 24, and won't be 25 until the fall. BU, on the other hand, does have a 25 year old on the roster - Jake Moscatel.

Additionally, the 23 yr old SO is Nick Gordon, a transfer from RIT that had to sit out a season. He has recently retired from playing after having a second surgery on his back but remains with the team.

I'm sure glad facts don't get in Bernie's way.

Thank goodness BU never had a 24 year old win a Hobey.

Sure, I can go with that. I should have clarified that I was referring to the effort, not results.
