Re: BU 2013-14 (Part II): Crash before the Phoenix

Ranger a leader doesn't send that message to their team I'm not sure on what planet they do . He said to beat BC they needed effort goaltending and luck . Wow ! The lack of talent excuse is lame . Did HC have the talent to beat BC did Bentley have the talent to beat BU did BU have enough talent to beat Wisc ? I hope you get my point . BU got swept by their main rival I expected an upset in one of the games. . Totally unacceptable and that should be the message DQ sends.

Those teams you mention: Holy Cross, Bentley, BU against Wisconsin... all those teams had a little luck wouldn't you say? Holy Cross managed to catch BC off guard before holding off a furious comeback, Bentley ran into a less than spectacular BU team, and BU took advantage of a weak goaltending effort by Wisconsin (two nights in a row).

A couple of pucks a few inches to the left or right and we're talking about that upset that you were looking for....

I'm not going to say that I haven't been extremely disappointed in the team this year, but the examples you gave could go either way.

Re: BU 2013-14 (Part II): Crash before the Phoenix

I dont want a coach who says "it takes luck to beat BC". With a message from the top like that no wonder most on here are so enamored by a "60 minute effort" in the Beanpot against your main rival! Next please...

Slow week, so I'll reply to this. In the 90s when BU would play Merrimack do you think Parker said, "Well, we knew we'd win. C'mon, they're Merrimack." Or would he have said, "Merrimack is a well-coached team, they always bring their A game, we knew we had to work hard" etc? I suppose you might've been on an online chat forum back then, too, saying, "I don't want a coach who says he expected a tough time with Merrimack!"

You can read a coach's statements any way you want, obviously. But I'd say it's clear that hockey coaches (and players) in general are big on not showing up the other team with their comments; and that of all the things to complain about this year, that quote is not one of them.

You realize you are responding to a "fan" who was disappointed they won in 2009 right?

All are welcome in this good thread! :D

Give me your tired (grad students), your poor (commuters),
Your huddled T riders yearning to get warm.
The wretched refuse of your Chestnut Hill Mall stores.
Send these, the drunkards, stomach-tost to me,
I light the lamp beside the Gahden door!

Spot on! That and his bile-on-steroids ranting that "Parker being around this team and at the event makes me want to puke" provide the lens through which his comments should be viewed.

Re: BU 2013-14 (Part II): Crash before the Phoenix

And blatantly made racist homophobic comments about fans of the team he supposedly roots for. Aw hell, let's just call a spade a spade, he's a BC fan.

For a BU "fan", he sure hates the program regardless of its direction, and possibly even more so than he "hates" BC.

I know of 2 people (both BU alums; 1 former season tix holder) whom, after the off-ice incidents/Task Force, went all "I'm withdrawing my support for BU hockey and will root for BC until BU gets its act together". It's one thing to say they'll refrain from supporting the program they once loved; it's another to go all Benedict Arnold and then claim they'll hop back on the BU bandwagon when/if BU returns to its level of success from the 90s.

Re: BU 2013-14 (Part II): Crash before the Phoenix

I prefer to do the following:

1. Root for the team I support regardless of the record or how frustrating it can be.
2. Try to limit any criticisms to overall team issues and not crap all over college kids.
3. Recognize that not every recruit is a future NHL player. Some may not even pan out to be decent college players.
4. Respect the fact that this program has, along with the tradition, managed to have bad years and periods of time that the team is less than competitive.

Since I became a season ticket holder when HAA opened I can't think of a hockey east team that hasn't had its ups and downs. A bad hockey season is still better than no hockey season. I'm just going to enjoy the games. Probably still be sitting there when BU contends for a national title someday soon.

Haha this makes no sense this isn't an apples to apples example. You certainly want your coach respecting the opponent the last thing you want is a coach taking a team lightly . You like your coach saying that .That's very differant then saying you need luck to win. And you certainly can respect an opponent without saying you can only beat them with luck. Maybe you shouldn't have come on the board today piker.

Rogie I enjoy your stuff you atleast have credibility but we will have to disagree with you on your view Parker sorry . He set the program back for the last five years and for who knows how many more to come. He was schooled in his own backyard 100 times over by BC and York .

i have a #5. good 18-to-20yo defensemen play in the nhl, not college - so expect mistake. big glaring horrific mistakes.

Rogie21, That info regarding Gill is not 100% accurate. There was another issue that played a role in his leaving.

Re: BU 2013-14 (Part II): Crash before the Phoenix

Gonna see another good effort like Monday and a close game??
Or blownout (shots AND goals) and get pummeled?

Re: BU 2013-14 (Part II): Crash before the Phoenix

Would like to bring my 3 teen kids in for the game tonight but hoping not to drop $100+ on tix. I noticed on the ticketmaster site that they have many seats labeled as "2 for 1 Tickets" that require I enter an Offer Code. Can some please show a little love to a Lowell fan and tell me how I can take advantage of the offer? Thanks fishy4u@hotmail.com
