Well use your timeout because it's pouring 20 miles south of boston right now

Re: BU 2013-14 (Part II): Crash before the Phoenix

You would hope so. This sure is an embarrassment to Hockey East for holding these games today, especially the 3:00 game.

my impression of the hockey east office (after a long text convo last night) is that they're a bunch of old wannabes and that they've allowed the Red Sox to lead them by the nose. Their failure to control and dictate the terms of this situation is disgusting.

Re: BU 2013-14 (Part II): Crash before the Phoenix

Serious Question: Does this team win another game this year? The wheels are flying off the wagon and Quinny doesn't appear to have a wrench.

Re: BU 2013-14 (Part II): Crash before the Phoenix

Man...Quinn just looks lost behind the bench. This scenario today is appropriate for BU, because they look like they're playing a pickup game on a pond somewhere. There is just NO organization or discipline at all...how did everything go so bad so quickly?

I mean, yes, we suck and it's a disaster for the team right now, but I hesitate to use this game as any example of what's wrong. This isn't a hockey game.

My point was we've looked like this in EVERY game. But today's scenario (outdoors, rain, pond-like conditions) just crystallizes the reality.

Yes it is an example look what Maine is doing under the same conditions and they clearly care more that's significant !

Re: BU 2013-14 (Part II): Crash before the Phoenix

Last years Maine team was awful, somehow this years BU team is even worse. Unreal

Re: BU 2013-14 (Part II): Crash before the Phoenix

Alright, y'all can immediately get your act together now and start winning some hawkey games. ;)

Re: BU 2013-14 (Part II): Crash before the Phoenix

well bball won again. (i don't believe they had a rain issue in PA yesterday :) )

Re: BU 2013-14 (Part II): Crash before the Phoenix

Full court Fenway...... The fad will start up in a couple of years! :-)

I thought the Pats should have played their game there yesterday. The squad looked pretty bad for sure, the NESN broadcast was amateur hour (Although I thought Colby was decent). Caron sounds like teeth on a chalkboard and Janney slurs his speech.

That ballpark is just so pimped out too, it's gross. The sledding hill in the outfield sponsored by LL Bean pretty much says it all.

It's funny how many of us thought that Quinn was the genius behind the 2009 team when in reality it was filled with NHLers. Maybe he's the great recruiter and Jack was the great coach? Quinn deserves some credit but Jack did have 3 titles and ~900 wins...

Personally I wanted Mike Sullivan but here we are...somewhere Bavis is smiling.

This is not to say Quinn won't get it together, York was sub 0.500 his first three seasons at BC, but I was hoping for more of an immediate turn around like UML or PC have been having...

Time will tell but this is hard to watch.

I think at BC, York had a much more challenging job. There was the carnage left by Cedorchuk and no talent. BU has some talented players but this is Quinn's 1st year and growing pains for BU and adjusting to Quinn's style of coaching after a legend like JP. Some of BC's better players left or transferred to other schools with the scandal of too many scholarships. One kid went to UNH I recall. It was so bad for me as a BC fan and the only bright spot was a Beanpot win over HU one year.

The sled hill thing looked ridiculous for sure. That being said there seems to be a demand for such types of things because of the mystique surrounding Fenway Park. I agree though that it does seem to be too much at times.

Yesterdays second game should have been played today… the only people who wouldn't think so are people behind the tv contracts and probably whoever would have had to pay to maintain (and rent???) the rink for another day (I assume it is being taken down today), but despite that, I'd say that pretty much everyone I saw at the park yesterday was enjoying themselves and having a great time, even during the ridiculous situation with the rain delay.

Frozen Fenway has it's place…. hopefully it is not again in 2 years (at least not for BU). Once every 4 years seems like a better schedule.

I'll break the suspense for you….Jack is a great coach. Quinn also gets a fair share of the credit for 2009 as does Bavis and everyone else involved in the program….

I was hoping for a step forward this year but so far we have not seen it. I still think Quinn is a good man for the job. Don't forget we had a bit of a slump mid season last year… (I don't think it was quite this bad) but ended up playing some pretty enjoyable hockey to watch by the end of the season… I'm confident we will see the same this year.

Re: BU 2013-14 (Part II): Crash before the Phoenix

NESN is all about happy, positive talk. So expecting any critical discussion of the outrageous playing conditions, and horrible conditions for the fans, was never going to happen.
I think Tom Caron does a good job as the Red Sox post-game host. Getting anything worthwhile out of Jim Rice is a monumental task, Caron does that as well as anyone could. However, as a hockey play-by-play guy, he lacks the pipes and is all too obvious overstating the party line. The less said about Janney, the better.

Does Joe Bertagna get down on one knee or two when he negotiates/organizes with the Red Sox? I think he just doesn't want to see the over-saturation of the games at Fenway.

Fenway Park is a historic ballpark that may of us love for its history and uniqueness. But it isn't a comfortable place to watch a ballgame in July and August, so why would anything think it'd be a good place to watch a game in January? Not to mention the poor site-lines for baseball that are much worse for hockey. How many people could actually follow the puck from the lower seats?

Unless people were tanked up, they could not have been comfortable yesterday.

I hope the BU team didn't take a ride down the giant slide. Too much potential symbolism there.
