Re: BU 2011-2012 Season: The bar is low, boys!

I pretty much penned the exact letter Nick Papagiorgio posted. :)

Anyway...enough of that. It's like the "War on Terror"...no clear ending.

I sincerely hope the team shows up and plays with a little passion, pride, and joy. All three have been lacking since Matt Gilroy left the club.

Not sure if you've seen this.

Any changes to lines etc for this coming weekend? Will Rollie get a start?

Looks like Rollie is most likely going to get Saturday at home and Ruikka will be back on D and Gilroy is going to play over Hohmann so Rosen will remain in the lineup as well.

Agree with all of it except maybe Rosen over Hohmann. Hohmann has looked small and slow at times but has great hands.

Hohmann is a very similar player to Chris Higgins. IIRC Higgins started off slow his 1st semester and then (along w/ the rest of the 2005-06 team) picked things up once January rolled around. If he stays healthy and develops, I envision a similar trajectory for Hohmann during his BU career.

Complete with Beanpot opening round highlight reel goal vs. Harvard?

Re: BU 2011-2012 Season: The bar is low, boys!

I think Hohmann is going to be a very good player. He needs to get up to the speed of D1 college hockey, but he is very skilled. He was basically benched for the third period against Holy Cross, but I believe he is going to come good.
Same with Rodrigues, whose has shown some big time moves so far that haven't paid off -- yet!

Rollheiser needs to play, even if only to push Millan, who has become too complacent. Rollheiser is good enough to do that, and more, if given the chance, even though I think Millan is the better of the two.

Details about changes this week are here.

Looks like some people aren't happy that I included the bit about Mike Pereira. I felt like it was my duty as a reporter to ask the team about it regardless of how those comments were intended to be taken. Thoughts?

(And yes, I know this wasn't the best written story)

Nice article about what happened behind the scenes this week. Hopefully the team responds.

you did exactly what you should have done. Love to hear what he has to say about the BC players.....

Most likely the same exact thing, so wouldn't be very earth shattering.

Anyway:

“We want to be able to have fun at practice and things like that, but at the same time, we think that there’s a time period before practice, whether that be an hour or 45 minutes, where guys should buckle down and focus on what they want to do and what they want to accomplish in practice to make themselves and their teammates better.”

No problem with this kind of quote, but really, what do you do for 45 minutes before a practice in order to "focus"? Sit in front of your locker and ponder?

Kinda surprised Parker responded to the Pereira question, but a decent line nonetheless.

"...and not give them too much sweat equity from last year if they had a good year last year,” Parker said.

no idea what that means

Who wasn't happy? People on the team? I didn't get that from the article. I thought it was pretty harmless to include it. I was kind of surprised it came from him. I've met him and talked to him and absolutely love his parents, and know from them they feel the total opposite. I'm not sure he meant it the way it came across but it did come out that way so absolutely ask the team how they feel about it. If it works as a motivator (hey - there's that word again!) we have him to thank. :)

If they were a hard worker last year or a big producer last year and aren't this year, Parker said he needs to disregard last year and bench them anyway. We spent a lot of time talking about benching people.

Who wasn't happy? People on the team?

Non-BU people who felt like there was no story there because comments were solely directed at Joe. Mike may have meant the comments that way, but he didn't say them that way. The team was fine with it. I spoke to Joe very briefly about it as well and he didn't seem to mind people talking about it either.

I think they call it "praying" up your way.
