Re: BU 2011-2012 Season: The bar is low, boys!
The key words are "I'm just not sure."
I'm not sure, either.
Parker's players, for the most part, feared AND loved him. At least for his first 30 years or so.
Are either of those still true anymore?
We really don't know, and trying to guess - while figuring out if he should stay or go - does a disservice to a man who deserves better.
Anyone that has been around for four decades in a competitive situation is going to have backers and detractors. Especially someone that has won a lot.
Two bad performances and the detractors are now out in droves.
I hope that Parker and the team aren't as quick to panic.
Are their some serious problems that need to be addressed? Certainly - defensive play, power play, motivation, consistent effort, goaltending concentration.
How those problems are addressed, or not, over the next five to six months will give us more to by on the state of the coaches/program.
I went to the UNH thread to see if Wildcats fans were ready to oust Dick Umile. They were more concerned with their program slipping due to realignments and financial constraints than pointing blame at a coach whose track record includes solid regular seasons and post-season disappointment.
Agree 100%. Interestingly, we used to hear about how Parker had droves of former players that would stay in close touch with him throughout their lives. And I do believe that used to be the case. I'm just not sure I see players from the last 5 - 10 years doing the same thing. Even a player we know to be very close - Travis Roy - heck, his injury was 15 years ago. (Wow time flies).
