Brown University Bears 2011-12

Brown University Bears 2011-12

Any updates on the coaching change/s at Brown? McKenna is also a "no go" if sources are correct.

Enough squabble. Yikes, you guys.
You always regret such stuff anyway so Shut up.

Good job, ccookie- WHO is being considered? Who do people like?

Coach Murphy there a long time. Yes, controversial to some.
But onward and upward! Maybe one of her assistants?
Usually, first place to look.
Let's keep making the east, Ivy- all, more competitive (with dreaded west!)

Below from Brown University Women's Ice Hockey Team site:

"Head women's hockey coach Margaret “Digit” Murphy recently announced the addition of Meaghan Guckian as an assistant coach for the 2010-11 season. Guckian comes to Brown from the Rochester Institute of Technology, where she was an assistant coach last season, and worked primarily with the goaltenders.

Last season at RIT, Guckian helped the Tigers to a 19-5-3 overall record, as the team advanced to the semifinals of the ECAC Tournament before losing an overtime contest to Elmira. Under her tutelage, the goaltending for RIT was particularly strong, allowing just 1.79 goals per game in the 2009-10 season.

Prior to her season in Rochester, Guckian also spent a season as an assistant coach at Buffalo State College following her graduation from St. Lawrence University.

In addition, Guckian was a standout goaltender at Division I St. Lawrence University from 2004-2008. She led the Saints to four consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, and three berths in the NCAA Frozen Four. Guckian finished her career at St. Lawrence as the all-time leader in shutouts (17), and was second all-time in wins (74), saves (2,380), and goals against average (2.03). She set the Saints single-season record with a 1.27 goals against average in 2005-06. Overall, Guckian recorded a remarkable 74-25-8 record in four seasons at St. Lawrence.

In 2008, Guckian received her bachelor's degree in psychology. She was a three-time member of the ECAC All-Academic Team. Guckian earned Dean's List honors five times and was a teaching assistant in the psychology program at St. Lawrence for two years."

Speak, please, if so...

Re: Brown University Bears 2011-12

Based on a Twitter feed that was passed along...Brown will make a coaching announcement this afternoon. Finally the day has come! No names mentioned but speculation has it that a veteran assistant will take over the reigns. Hang onto your hats....

Hearing that the "vet assistant" is from Princeton. We shall see.

Oh this guy again - alludes to have "inside info." but won't put it in the blog pre-official announcement......

Whatever...I'm not about to cut Browns grass. Keep posting assistant profiles..you'll get it. Sooner or later.

Paps, just checked out your other posts on the Big Green and now this... Yikes. You were on fire today! Too bad there was no one around for you to play with on this board.

What stirred you up, was there something in the air up there in the Upper Valley? A little frost maybe? Do you smell hockey season? It's getting closer... Classes start soon and that means the season is near. Can't wait!

Maybe some news from the Bears this week...

3703, "Over...?"
You funny.

Thank you.

Yes, on the west side of Smarts Mountain...there where the Appalachian Trail struggles most, perhaps, as it wends it's way uphill. True cold fronts are once again moving in the Northeast, one can sense a/the, 'sea change', a certain stillness before dawn, and etc.

All You All know of what Pap speaks!

Ice winter, is a cumin' in...

I'd like to congratulate Amy Bourdeau on her appointment as the new head coach, and here is hoping that all the Brown Supporters, Parents, Alumni, players and others involved with the program are all going to be fully 100% behind this team during the upcoming rebuild to it's former glory.
