Brown @ RPI (ECAC quarterfinals, Friday, 3/15/13)

Re: Brown @ RPI (ECAC quarterfinals, Friday, 3/15/13)

Not the start we would have liked, but not a terrible period. Hopefully we have been given a wake-up call.

Re: Brown @ RPI (ECAC quarterfinals, Friday, 3/15/13)

Period ends with Brown up 1-0

Not the start that we wanted, but there are still 40 minutes left and we start the second period on the power play.

Re: Brown @ RPI (ECAC quarterfinals, Friday, 3/15/13)

ahead of my video feed anyway :)
When I had WRPI on as a seperate feed it was 30 seconds ahead of the video...too confusing and had to shut it off and go with the audio (still WRPI) on America One.

Re: Brown @ RPI (ECAC quarterfinals, Friday, 3/15/13)

well i will be at the game tomorrow so there will be no delay :)

Re: Brown @ RPI (ECAC quarterfinals, Friday, 3/15/13)

DrD, seems like you are ahead of the video feed by about 15-20 seconds

I have the fastest speed Comcast has and tonight my connection is super-for some reason putting in this new super sized HD has sped this thing up. I am also getting instant messages from HFH and they are live.

Jenny just hauled up the old computer from the garage-I am switching to this relic (Windows 98 believe it or not) and see if that works. I cannot stand this Video broadcast and would rather listen to WRPI.

i have fios, so the speed should be good. ofcourse judging by the americaone feed, they are not using anything more than 200k. I get far better quality on my slingbox in low quality mode.

Re: Brown @ RPI (ECAC quarterfinals, Friday, 3/15/13)

My take is that we had an exceptionally bad shift against Brown's top line, and they scored. I'm not sure which line we had on the ice, but they looked bad for that 30-second stretch in our zone. Other than that, it felt even, or maybe RPI had more control and a few more nice chances. Brown looks good in net tonight, so I think we're going to have a low scoring match.

I agree with WRPI that it looks like Brown studied RPI's playbook and they are doing a good job breaking up our offensive plays. The start of the 2nd will be an 80-second RPI powerplay. That will be a good litmus test. If we get a lot of pressure and perhaps score, then it could set the tone for the second period. The momentum could go either way from here.

Re: Brown @ RPI (ECAC quarterfinals, Friday, 3/15/13)

my bandwidth meter suggests the feed is about 200-250kbps

768kbps actually. Where they are really killing you is the unnecessarily low 320x240 resolution.

Haven't used the old computer in about 10 years-incredibly booted up and using an old outdated version of Winamp WRPI comes in just fine. Not sure what kid of speed i will get on this thing or how much of a delay posting-but at least it works. i wonder if Americone will refund money if i only watched for 9 minutes?

im definitly not seeing close to 768k. The max i have seen so far is about 300 , generally staying in the low 200s. I have 15/5 Mbps verizon fios. Is there an option to up the quality?

My guess that they are lowering the resolution to keep the bitrate in check as their servers cannot handle too much.

Just email them and tell them you weren't satisfied. Then call up your credit card company and cancel payment.

Re: Brown @ RPI (ECAC quarterfinals, Friday, 3/15/13)

Can anyone explain the business side of these hockey broadcasts? RPITV does most games for free and does a great job. Do they then sell the rights to America One when there is demand? RPITV still does the basic technical work, it seems, but then America One takes the feed and F's it up and charges us $10?

Will do that after second period-thanks. I hated to even sign up for the feed i have had such horrible times with them.

It's the league, not RPI.
