Brewers 2011 - Yo...Marcum for the post-season or jen may get a little Greinke

Re: Brewers 2011 - Yo...Marcum for the post-season or jen may get a little Greinke

No baseball to talk about yesterday, so... my second favorite ballpark-related topic - food! Here's the article about the deep-fried favorites: http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/146144135.html

deep-fried bacon ($7.50)
funnel cake fries ($4)
deep-fried cheesecake with strawberry sauce ($7.50)

I also heard there were deep fried pickles. I think I'm gonna stick with a brat and beer.... but maybe try the pickles. :) And poutine is still offered (along with the other special fries they added). I wasn't that impressed with it, so it's only a once-or-twice-a-season thing for me. The brisket sandwich on the club level is REALLY good though.

Well that was fun. After George had two strikes on him, I did not think he was going to do it. Nice to see Gamel have a good night, too, and they kept Matt Kemp in check at the plate (although he hit that first ball incredibly hard). His numbers are absolutely ridiculous so far.

Big crowd in the press box last night.

I really like Roenicke's aggressiveness in the field and on the bases. I love that he uses the squeeze a lot more than other managers - Aoki had a good one last night, even though everyone knew he was going to do it. The three run homers are nice, but it's really fun to see them take extra bases or get the lead runner instead of the safe play (until it burns them :D).

I loved the Aoki play because everyone knew what the Brewers were trying to do, he just said come and stop it if you can. Same with Gomez pinch running, catch him if you can. Makes it really fun to watch.

so was he out? sure looked like it to me (without the benefit of replay, though).

I *think* so, though there is no definitive angle where you can see the tag and Morgan touching the plate clearly. The best angle is from the Brewers' side of home plate where you can see the glove move toward Morgan's backside but it's tough to tell the exact instant when it made contact. Probably out though, IMO.

Narveson out for the year with a torn rotator cuff. Looks like Estrada is the fill-in for now, anyway. He was fantastic in that role last year, so I'm not that worried..... yet.

Good thing we moved up Yo for this start. :o Although I guess it wouldn't really matter which day he pitched, the cards OWN him. I almost tempted to watch the NFL draft tonight.

no point in doing that, the packers are done...traded up twice to get a DT(DE in 3-4) and CB. They are done for the night.

Apparently we're 8-1 against him. Our illustrious broadcaster Mike Shannon was shocked by this-he didn't think it should be that lopsided.

Ryan Braun... still just a little bit awesome. :) Didn't stay up for the whole game, but.. three home runs? at Petco? I was surprised to hear that was his first 3 homer game.

It sure would be nice if the pitching turned around.

p.s. so far I like Gonzalez, but not so much Ramirez (although I think he'll heat up). Middle of the road on The Gamel Project - need more evidence.

**** you Mark Kotsay.

Gamel left the game with a "twisted knee", whatever that means.

The Brewers are facing old friend Jeff Suppan today, who's filling in for Cory Luebke.

At the time, I was thinking **** you k-rod.

Guaranteed Soup goes 7 shutout...

Mat Gamel has torn ACL, <a href="http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/149907055.html#!page=1&pageSize=10&sort=newestfirst">likely out for season</a>. In related news, Brooks Conrad will make his first start at 1B for Nashville and will be called up for the SF series. Ishikawa in the meantime.

Re: Brewers 2011 - Yo...Marcum for the post-season or jen may get a little Greinke

Brewers shut out for 2nd straight game, this time by the one and only Jeff Suppan. Braun leaves game with undisclosed injury. :(

Yikes. How much worse can it get?

Re: Brewers 2011 - Yo...Marcum for the post-season or jen may get a little Greinke

Braun apparently tweaked his achilles while stealing a base on Tuesday, and they were thinking about holding him out Wednesday, but he played. And then left early because it was sore. It doesn't sound serious, but fingers still crossed.

Estrada is going to be skipped, so the matchups with SF are:

Friday: Greinke vs. Lincecum
Sat: Wolf vs. Bumgarner
Sun: Marcum vs. Cain

<a href="http://www.jsonline.com/sports/brewers/travis-ishikawa-gets-ready-to-tackle-first-base-for-brewers-bs594s7-150110805.html">Ishikawa is the man at first</a>. Conrad has been called up, but apparently Ishikawa is better defensively, so he'll get to start. They don't want to start Hart at first without sticking him in a blowout game for a few innings.

Giants are hurting too - the Panda is out with a broken bone in his hand.

Re: Brewers 2011 - Yo...Marcum for the post-season or jen may get a little Greinke

Gomez and Gonzalez to the DL. Geez...there's not going to be anyone left pretty soon. I'll have to dig around and see if I can find my glove.

Re: Brewers 2011 - Yo...Marcum for the post-season or jen may get a little Greinke

I don't remember the Brewers having 3 players possibly done for the year in such quick succession. Huge injury problems this year.
