Brewers 2011 - Yo...Marcum for the post-season or jen may get a little Greinke

Is your GM serious? "K-Rod and Axford will both be closers"

No they won't. Only one guy can close the game. It's nice to have a 2nd option, but there is only one closer.

Im sure what he means is K-Rod will finish some games to keep Axford fresh and rested...

JJ Hardy's name has been tossed around on ESPN as a potential canditate too

I never thought I'd see the day where I'd take Hardy back, but I would. I did hear on the radio Baltimore wanted to extend him a couple years because their AAA guy, who is a stud, won't be ready for a couple more years.

I never wanted him to go but sometimes to regain early success, you need a change in scenery.

Ryan Braun is in the lineup tonight. Hooray.

Re: Brewers 2011 - Yo...Marcum for the post-season or jen may get a little Greinke

Sooo, this is awkward.

The Brewers, as it turns out, were a team that Rodriguez wasn't expecting to be traded to, as they were one of 10 on a no-trade list that the reliever's agent failed to turn into the Mets.

Rodriguez then switched agents, going with Scott Boras, but New York traded him before Boras had a chance to re-submit the list.

"It is true," Rodriguez said when asked if Milwaukee was indeed one of the 10 teams on his no-trade list. "I don't know exactly -- still trying to find out exactly what happened. I was told from my ex-agent about the 10-team trade list that I had, and Milwaukee was one of them.

"After I got the phone call from the GM and he told me I was traded, I was a little confused. I just found out my agent never sent the letter to the Players' Association or MLB, and I guess that played out. Now the Mets had the opportunity to trade me anyplace or anywhere they wanted to.

There is an explanation:
The initial list, as it turns out, was put together when Trevor Hoffman was entrenched as the Brewers' closer. So while it's unclear whether the Brewers would have remained on a new list had Boras submitted one before the trade, Milwaukee's initial exclusion had more to do with its closer's job being filled.

"Exactly," he said. "That's one reason when we made that list at that time, Hoffman was over here and I never thought there would be any chance for me when you have a legend like him over here."

Re: Brewers 2011 - Yo...Marcum for the post-season or jen may get a little Greinke

Ryan Braun extended his hitting streak. Hooray.

Wasn't JJ Hardy on not-so-great terms with the Brewers after serving a minor league stint that affected his free agency? Not sure he'd be happy about coming back, although who doesn't like winning? I'd be concerned about his injury-laden past. I don't really like Betancourt either, but not sure Hardy is the answer any more than he was the first time.

I like the K-Rod deal simply because it gives the Brewers another reliable arm in the bullpen. I think he'll close when Axford isn't available or needs a rest, but I don't see him taking the main closer's job unless Axford does something to lose it.

Now that they have K-Rod's option figured out...hopefully they can stop sucking on the road and win a game...I mean the brewers are behind the PIRATES right now!

In other news, Ryan Braun's hitting streak was broken yesterday...

It's nice to see the Brewers rebound and split the 4 game series with the Rockies after 2 horrible losses to fall behind the PIRATES!

Still 7 tough games left on this road trip. On to Arizona and San Francisco.

I agree. I am glad they rebounded to split the series after looking all but dead those first two games. Now it's on to Arizona, will Prince get booed or cheered this time?

Im going tomorrow! Will be front row left field behind Braun...hope its as eventful as last year. I'm hoping they boo Prince and it ****es him off enough to kick some ***. I'm sure he's still ****ed about the AZ fans throwing bottles of water at his family on their car ride up to the stadium before the ASG.

Looks like you're getting a nice view of Kotsay catching some balls on the track. I hadn't heard that story about Prince's family. Wow Arizona...you stay classy.

Wow...Randy Wolf is not fooling anyone tonight. The Crew is lucky to only be down 3-0 at this point.

Re: Brewers 2011 - Yo...Marcum for the post-season or jen may get a little Greinke

If Braun woulda hit his homer a lil harder I woulda had it...landed about 2 rows in front of me :(

Definitely picked the right game to go to.

Re: Brewers 2011 - Yo...Marcum for the post-season or jen may get a little Greinke

Every starter had a hit.... except Prince. The Big Fella was 0-5 with 2 K.

gojackets, you better be going to the next 2 games as well. :)

Jon Heyman says the Brewers spoke to the Mets about Beltran... where the hell is he going to play if they get him? I suppose I'd rather have his bat in center (as much as it would pain us all to be Plush-less), and adding a bat anywhere would help cover for the underachievers if they can't get replacements at SS or 3B. I don't really like it, though. Think the Mets would do a straight up Reyes for Betancourt deal? ;)

The Braves keep throwing around the thought of picking up a right-handed bat, preferably an outfielder, to bolster their south-paw heavy lineup.

Could Carlos Gomez or Corey Hart be on the move?

Who in their right mind would willingly acquire Gomez? :o
