Hey, remember last year when Lucroy didn't catch for Wolf? Yeah, guess that's done. :)

Looks like I get to see Wolf vs. Lee and Narveson vs. Oswalt in Philly. Yippee. :p Should also be interesting to see the reception if Mr. Plush starts (which he should!)

hey, good news! The Brewers don't play the Nationals today!

I guess it's a good thing I didn't see any of those games.

Matchups for the Philly series:

Today: Marcum vs. Blanton
Tue: Wolf vs. Halladay
Wed: Narveson vs. Lee

Nyjer Morgan has a bruised thigh from sliding into Ryan Doumit last week and is only available to pinch hit.
Greinke will be pitching in the minors Tuesday and Sunday, then they'll see after that. Roenicke thinks he needs at least 3 starts.
Hart may be back for the Cincinnati series.

Glad the Crew got the win tonight against Blanton. The next two nights vs Halladay/Lee are going to be tough. Side note: can someone teach Prince how to throw home?

Re: Brewers 2011 - Yo...Marcum for the post-season or jen may get a little Greinke

Glad to see the crew won big time tonight, but how do they get swept by the Nats and then do what they did to the phillies the last 2 days?

Philly helped them out in game 1 but tonight the Crew was firing on all cylinders.

Another observation: Zack Greinke interviews are going to be interesting to watch.

Is anyone else concerned Betancourt might not be the answer at short?

He's a replacement, not an answer. If he limits his errors and ends up around .250, I think I'm ok with it.
The bigger question is where does the team look for a more long-term answer?

You would hope the answer is "the minors".

Very concerned. Too many errors and a poor average doesn't help make up for that. Gomez's aver is terrible, but his speed in center is a valuable asset that offsets that. Who's their AAA shortstop?

Re: Brewers 2011 - Yo...Marcum for the post-season or jen may get a little Greinke

It should be luis cruz but he declined being sent to aaa

Re: Brewers 2011 - Yo...Marcum for the post-season or jen may get a little Greinke

The depth at shortstop is pretty bad. That's why they absolutely needed a shortstop back in the trade. If they end up with some money to play with if Prince leaves, I would assume they would try and get someone from free agency. I suppose one could also be part of any Prince trade.

Re: Brewers 2011 - Yo...Marcum for the post-season or jen may get a little Greinke

What is up with McGee? Yesterday he screwed up on the bases and killed a rally that could have put the game away. The game before, he totally zones out on that foul ball and let's it drop. He had an error against the Nats that cost the team. His head isn't in it right now.

Milwaukee Brewers have extended Ryan Braun's contract through 2020 with an option for 2021. $101 mil total over the extra 5 years(10 bonus, 19,19,19,18,16) plus the option year in 2021 is $20 mil or a $4 mil buyout.

Yes. Not a fan (although I don't think he was ever the answer, but they may need to replace him sooner than later). It doesn't help that Escobar is on SportsCenter's top 10 like, every night lately. ;)

Reading through the Ryan Braun articles this morning... Hunt's take regarding how it will impact Fielder:
Attanasio said there is room in the payroll to make another sizable adjustment, but he also mentioned that it's important for the player to approach the Brewers and say he wants to be here. I don't think Fielder will do that. He will let the offers do the talking. And if he keeps playing like this, the Brewers won't be able to afford him no matter what they did for Braun.

I am a little pleasantly surprised to see a guy like Braun want to be a Brewer for his entire career.

I'm ecstatic that he wants to remain in Milwaukee. Rare are the Chipper Jones, Robin Yount's, and (to an extent Trevor Hoffmans) in MLB.

:)

Is anybody else watching tonight's game? They keep showing the girl with the BRAUN MARRY ME sign with her phone number on it and it's freakin' hilarious.

They just interviewed her - she said she got 200 calls and 600 text messages.

They just showed a clip tonight of Braun trying to call her after the game, "This voice message box is full..." :D

This team sux at running the bases. Seriously. I think they skipped that portion of baseball tactics in Arizona. What. The. Crap. Was. That.
