Re: Bracketology

Priceless, why is it that when you look at individual comparison breakdowns, a team's TUC record shows up as different depending on which team the comparison is against? In other words, Maine has a .500 record against TUC's in the comparison with CC, but a .468 in the TUC comparison with Vermont. Please explain.
The games against Vermont count in the head to head portion, so they are taken out of the TUC record.

Re: Bracketology

Today's bracketology:

Code:
[B]Albany Worcester Fort Wayne	St. Paul[/B]
Wisconsin St Cloud Miami Denver
BC Bemidji CC Maine
UND Vermont Mass UMD
Cornell Ferris St AHA Champ	UNH

To reduce flights for #1 seeds

Code:
[B]Albany Worcester Fort Wayne	St. Paul[/B]
Denver St Cloud Miami Wisconsin
Maine Bemidji CC BC
UMD Vermont Mass UND
UNH Ferris St AHA Champ	Cornell

The TUC line:

Code:
20	Lake Superior	0.5185
21	Minnesota	0.5180
22	Northern M	0.5175
23	Alaska 0.5171
24	Northeastern	0.5170

UND isn't going to like that match-up.

No BC, UMass, Maine or UNH in Worcester??? What a failure at the gate that would be.......not to mention a very bad Regional. Albany and St. Paul would be crazy!

Please explain how UNH is in, after winning 10 comparisons, and being tied for 15th, while MSU is out and winning 11 comparisons and at 14th.

Re: Bracketology

I could be wrong but wouldn't wisconsin get put in the St. Paul REgional if they end up a 1 seed????

This is the $64 question. Would the committee follow the "flight is a flight" rule or give Denver the closest regional? I tend to think other things will play into the decision (like putting UNH and Maine in Albany for attendance) but it could go either way. To assure that they get St. Paul, the Badgers need not only a #1 seed, but finish ahead of Denver and St. Cloud.

Interesting, I'm not too worried about St Cloud. They have a difficult stretch to finish the season. This streak they are on right now is due to a pretty easy schedule. UND will be difficult, they always struggle in madison and a home and home vs Minn St. Can go either way

Denver is something like 9-2-0 in XCEL Center, has many Minnesota based alums and several players from Minnesota. So obviously I'm biased.

I think if DU is the WCHA regular season champion AND beats Wisconsin in the Final 5 they go to St. Paul. Right now DU is 0-1-1 against Sconnie so the Committee might hold that against DU. This is how they gave DU and easier Regional over CC in 2005.

Re: Bracketology

The "closest" regional really doesn't matter to Denver, unless the regional is in Colorado, which this year, it isn't. It's simply too far to drive, everyone flies, and we have a small fanbase. We'll have the same 50 fans in St. Paul as we would in the east. I would have no problem playing in any of the regional cities. That said, I am much more concerned about "who" DU plays vs 'where' DU plays.

Re: Bracketology

This Week's Brackets

St. Paul
Ferris State vs. St. Cloud State
Vermont vs. Bemidji State
( I predict a team with "State" in its name would win this regional)

Fort Wayne
RIT vs. Miami
Colorado College vs. Massachusetts

Albany
Cornell vs. Wisconsin
North Dakota vs. Boston College

Worcester
New Hampshire vs. Denver
Minnesota-Duluth vs. Maine

Think I liked last week's bracket better--no other WCHA team.

If Wisco is overall #3 and St. Cloud is #4 I just can't see them giving St. Cloud the regional in St. Paul. Especially with UND in Wisco's regional as well. If it would be all East schools then I could see St. Clouds pod getting moved since it would also have Bemidji. A lot will be riding on the Huskies/Badgers series next weekend.
