Bottom Feeders 2018-19: Just So You Know, They Really Suck

Re: Bottom Feeders 2018-19: Just So You Know, They Really Suck

Dartmouth could end up ranked, depending on how they do against BU.

And the commish is paying a little more attention to UAH vs. Tech this weekend. If an upset occurs, it won't move Tech into the rankings, but will move UAH down a bit.

Re: Bottom Feeders 2018-19: Just So You Know, They Really Suck

So, come late February, some teams may be looking back at what could have been this weekend?

the burning of the weed will make those gas station hot dogs go down better.

Re: Bottom Feeders 2018-19: Just So You Know, They Really Suck

UAH 1, MTU 0.

If it happens again tonight, Tech will be at least a bubble team. Then again, I read the Tech thread this morning, and "EVERYTHING IS HORRIBLE!"

It might be happening tonight. Either way, UAH is no longer #1, Ferris will be top #5, and other shakeups galore coming tomorrow.

If this score holds, Tech would be 9-8-1 overall. Not "bubble" yet, but you just made the Commish spit out her coffee.

Is the field for the NoWinS already predetermined, or do the "top" 4 at the break go?

Re: Bottom Feeders 2018-19: Just So You Know, They Really Suck

Update from the NoWinS.

The Beef & Bean Burritos from Allsup's Convenience have been delivered to tournament officials, and are rancid enough to induce gagging already. They will be stored inside the warming shack located adjacent to the ice surface until postgame distribution to teams.

The ice surface itself has been mushy at best, due to temperatures hovering in the low 40s during daylight hours.

Accommodations for the teams will be provided by Lazy Day Cabins, with additional space allocated in rented vintage RVs to be parked on the property.
"We have 7 cabins and 3 Motel Rooms ranging in price from $55 to $225/night. We also have 10 RV Spaces for $20/night or $290/month. Whether you just want to get away from the city life, hold your family reunion, or church retreat, we’ve got you covered."

A nice touch from the local organizing committee. Due to the self-imposed ban on actual highlights from any tournament games and in lieu of any large screen video display replays, the Cloudcroft Light Opera Company will be performing dramatic re-enactments of important points of each game. Any video reviews will be based on interpretations presented to the officials by the troupe. In a welcome ironic twist, this will undoubtedly lead to CLOC (Cloudcroft Light Opera Company) errors as well.

I sure hope somebody gets the RV that hail broke out the vent cover over the toilet/shower stall, and all the dead insects and bats have covered the floor, blocking the drain.

Much more mundane question: how is everyone adjusting to altitude?

Re: Bottom Feeders 2018-19: Just So You Know, They Really Suck

No way the committee was allowing them to get there early to adjust. They'll all be arriving about 20 minutes before their scheduled games.

The Commish wants them there no earlier than 10 minutes out. *Just enough* time to get dressed and get out there.

It appears John J. MacInnes and I will be observing this together. We won't be eating the burritos and drinking the stale coffee... I managed to get reservations at a good restaurant in a nearby metropolis.

Re: Bottom Feeders 2018-19: Just So You Know, They Really Suck

We also made sure they're being brought in on old school buses (sleepers are much too fancy for this event), and that the drivers took as many rutted dirt roads as possible.
