Anyone giving Merrimack a chance in this series? Lost to BU 3-1, 4-1 and 5-2. I didn't see these three games - were any of them close?

mack is the favorite, no doubt. bu is down to their last 18 skaters - literally!

All were played hard and more even than the scores represented. BU is down a couple of guys. This is a toss up... If either team does not bring their "A game" they will lose.

total agreement here...just please let it end in 2 games...that 3d game in front of 2900 people in theory might be exciting but it never is..i think we've had one every year in recent memory as well

Re: Boston University season thread - strike 3! last man there turn out the lights.

I went to last year's game three against UNH. That one actually was pretty exciting...a couple others over the past 10 years or so have been pretty entertaining as well. Would be better with a good crowd, obviously. Just never happens in the QFs.

Re: Boston University season thread - strike 3! last man there turn out the lights.

The BU injuries/departures have certainly made this a more interesting series than it would appear to be on paper. Merrimack was a tough team to play up until a few weekends ago when the arthritis finally starting taking its toll on the Warriors. They've gone 1-5-1 in their last 7 I believe. BU owned them this season and is on a rather decent roll of their own.

I'm interested to see how these two teams come out for Game 1.

Questions: How will Merrimack respond to their dismal last few weeks? Is there any worry about a possible injury to Maguire with O'Connor already done for the season? Does Bigos have one more misconduct in him before graduating?

Ya, god forbid I post here after parker retires. That's not a major event or anything.

Who asked you not to post here? Suggested exactly the opposite. Can’t lose two certainties in one week.:D:D

And I post in the bc thread too obviously, so do you actually have a point for once? Do you and your alleged friends still talk about me? I figured (hoped) you were done reading my posts and responding.

One bc fan called the team unlikeable a while back...what does that have to do with the price of tea in china? Do I automatically have to agree?

Start checking in on those bu recruits, make sure they're still coming.

As usual, a lot of angry, knee-jerk spewin’ but zero refutin’ of what was actually posted. Par for the course

Re: Boston University season thread - strike 3! last man there turn out the lights.

It's amazing you're still taking time to read my posts and respond, especially since it's taking time away from what you love doing the most.

And as usual with you, your cute little rolled eyes. I am not angry, just annoyed. I didn't realize there was anything for me to dispute. Must be like the time you made an *** out of yourself by being the only person to accuse me of thinking it was funny that someone got hurt. That false accusation of course came with the customary rolled eyes.

I'll take the "over" on combined penalty minutes, even without Goonan. Marotta and D will have to be better than in recent games for MC to have any chance because scoring is a problem. Collins hit a scoring drought at the end of the season; would love to see him get back on track. Let's see if Bigos can reign in the knucklehead stuff (not convinced he can).

I think the logical conclusion after asking the questions I just asked is that Bigos is going to run Maguire into oblivion and force BU to play their 3rd stringer!

HockeyEastOnline has the TV schedule out...looks like BC/Vermont on Friday Night Ice (NBC Sports Network) at 7:00, NESN doing Providence/UNH Saturday at 4:00 and we get (those of us who can't go Saturday) WBIN (woo-hoo) for Saturday night's BU/Merrimack game at 7:00. Is that the "old" Channel 50? In Derry?

I'm going to be in Vermont this weekend and unfortunatley they will not have it where I am going.... although I'm still glad to be going skiing! :D

But, since I'm missing the games this weekend, I have extra reasons to want BU to win.... I mean, I want them to win anyway, but I also want to see Jackie behind the bench at least one more time at the Garden!

A brief detour....this is for Bomber, even though he roots for the wrong Chicago baseball team ;)

Story was written by a BU grad, though, so it is somewhat on topic.

Steve Rushin's article a few weeks back on a fan who hasn't missed a Hawks home game since 1966 was also a good read.

Thanks Hurl82. I saw the cover on my FB feed. (I'm a bit worried about the jinx.) I'm looking forward to reading the article "old school" when I get my SI in the mail.

Regarding the games this weekend.

- Three games is just about guaranteed. When was the last time BU didn't play 3 games?
- I like that one of the goalies is "The Man." I think this builds confidence and will result in better goalie play. As long as he doesn't get hurt of course.
- I'm optimistic there will be a "Parker Bounce."
- The stands will be empty.
- There will be a lot of penalty minutes.
- I will have a craving for Cherry Pie by Sunday evening.

BU Hockey: Jack's Last Stand!

Re: Boston University season thread - strike 3! last man there turn out the lights.

So... Bu and haa love money more than their team. They are selling the arena for a pregame MC pep rally!! :D

"The 'Join the Battle' pre-game party is scheduled to begin at 5:30pm in the North Shell Space inside Agganis Arena. Be there for complimentary appetizers & refreshments and a performance by the Merrimack College Pep Band!"

MC organizing a bus trip down as well. I would expect a pretty big MC contingent hoping to expedite Jack's retirement party. I'd like to at least see a series, it is obviously a pretty rough matchup for the Warriors.

Re: Boston University season thread - strike 3! last man there turn out the lights.

Also.. does anyone know if the North Shell Space serves beer at events of this nature?

That is so sad.

The North Shell is an unfinished crescent shaped room that is nothing but dry wall, a cement floor, and an unfinished ceiling with hanging/exposed wires and pipes. There is no bar of any sort permanently there; however, they have wheeled in a cart and sold beer at some events. So maybe?
