Re: Boston University season thread - strike 3! last man there turn out the lights.

Even before the game, there was no energy or sense of anticipation in the building. I realize that's a subjective statement, but I sensed no buzz, at all.

It seems that the number of spectators in the student section has diminished.

The only time I think BU has any chance of scoring is when O'Reagan and Rodrigues are on the ice.

Agree 100%. UML looked fired up and BU looked lifeless. Did you see Gill's "pass" back to Oksanen? Resulted in a 2-0 odd-man rush. That game could have easily been a 6-0 UML win. Notice how few BC posters are here this morning? I think they're as bored with this as we are and are tired of "watching the rubble bounce". It's over. They should move back to Walter Brown and let the women play at HAA.

Absolutely clueless for the last two months.

Hate to say it but Cisse's departure really has made a difference. While he may not have been producing, BU could skate 3 lines when he was around. Also, you had a productive fourth line of Rosen and Santana with Lane or even Moran. Now you barely have two lines with a fourth line that is severely overmatched.

My word is Lowell a snore-show. I'd rather watch soccer. I'll give them mad props for executing the system (I'm in favor of it*), but man, oh man. *yawn*

Having said that, BU let it happen. It takes hard work to crack the trap. It takes a little effort. It take some creativity and fight. Nah, too much effort. When does T's close?

As for the building... (Worst home winless streak since 1971. Wait, 1971!!!!??? #DoeNotCompute) I've been to lectures with more buzz. Admittedly, I contributed to this. There really wasn't much to cheer for. I tried, but then... *yawn*

any boo'ing last night? when will that start?
can students start wearing paper bags? or will the mallcops kick them out?

He is loyal to BU and to Jack. But I doubt he will seriously be considered for the job whenever it finally opens up.

i'd bet if jackpa gets input, he is staying... which would be worse than jack staying.

Re: Boston University season thread - strike 3! last man there turn out the lights.

I could never bring myself to boo college kids. Hell, I don't even boo pro players (though I don't have a problem with that)

I would just stay home or go, be silent and leave early.

Is attendance dropping off?

The reference in the Globe seemed to imply that we had a winless streak in 1971 similar to the current one. If this was Ms. Matson's impression it is wrong. the 1971-72 season saw the team go 26-4-1 losing only 1 game at home (final regular season to Cornell) other three were at Clarkson, Cornell in Syracuse, and BC at McHugh Forum. She could not be referencing 1970-71 as that team was 28-2-1 and was playing in the old Boston Arena. It could be that the reference is that this is the longest winless streak at home since the advent of WBA.

The stat we (the media) were given was that it was their first five-game home winless streak since they began playing their home games on campus, meaning the last time it happened (if it ever did) was before they moved on campus. I think maybe some people, possibly including the Globe, misinterpreted that as 1971 was the last time it happened.

"Never" is a long time because they did sell out on many nights at WBA in the era I attended regularly 70's through 90"s. I watched many games from the concourse with a standing room ticket.

Absolute worst effort since HAA Arena opened. I haven't seen a team so listless since the end of the Scott Perry era in 2001. In addition to looking disinterested, half of them look exhausted.

Also, they have tuned out the coach. When he called timeout in the second, they were barely listening. A few didn't even move off the bench to hear what he had to say.

Finally, if the team is only going to salute the fans when they win, can we stop the stick salutes until the last game of the year. I never was a big fan of the stick salutes and I really hate the selective use of it during the season. Just stop it until last home game (which looks like it will be a regular season game).

And Parker said they were energized and put in a big effort, can you say out of touch? The Scott Perry era perfect reference to that era of **** poor recruits, except for 2009 hasnt been much differant quite honestly.

Yeah, I agree. While there wan't any sort of sellout streak of note, successful 90's years seemed to sellout BC, Maine, UNH, and any big name Western schools. Of course, with the low roof, half a crowd sounded louder than a sellout at HAA.

With the long bathroom lines, very limited concessions, and lack of "entertainment" beyond the game, the average fan at WBA was definitely more of a hockey fan than the average HAA fan is.

well golly geez.. sounds like now! bc comes and uhn comes and the place is full. everyone else, not so much. stop acting like sections 1 & 14 were always full.

and when you have 'average' of 3600 and average of 6500, yeah - those are are getting more to what the bu population has to give as hockey fans. and in the smaller building with low roof you have condensed space to funnel noise.

so please stop acting like every wba game was full with loud roudy peeps

Re: Boston University season thread - strike 3! last man there turn out the lights.

I bet there's just a sea of red heading to Lowell tonight. Hope at least the team bus driver is motivated enough to get the bus there
