Re: Boston University Part IV: Off-Season or New Season?
Would have loved to see Joey P get one more crack at some more hardware. I was saying to my buddy that if I were Parker, I would have just let him stay on the ice for the last 6 minutes of the game, that's how hard he was playing. He's always been a bulldog though. Connolly also put in some serious effort.
On one hand, I'm obviously bummed the season is over (barring some sort of hookers 'n' blow, grade-fixing, ineligible-player, mascot-humping scandal that wipes out 8 to 16 in the PWR). On the other hand, we have a very young team, many who have improved significantly over the second half (Clendening, Nieto). I have high hopes for Gill and Coyle too, although Coyle seemed to have been setting expectations too high when he got a hat trick in the exhibition game. Far too much down the stretch he was 'take-it-into-the-corner guy'.
I think the disappointing finish to this season, and the fact that there probably aren't any definite NHL starters on the club, means that we'll return the full squad next year. Maybe they can get Jenn Wakefield or Marie Phillip Poulin to fill the one spot vacated by Periera?
Anyway, disappointing loss, nice to see us at least play 'til the final whistle though. If there was more of that in the first period of games this season, we wouldn't need all the hookers 'n' blow stuff to have our NCAA ticket punched already.
See you all next season, and good luck to the women's hockey team! Bring us some hardware! Oh, and B-ball, once you get by Kansas, the rest of that bracket is a joke. I think Charles Barkley said so.
Go Terriers!
