Boston University Part IV: Off-Season or New Season?

Re: Boston University Part IV: Off-Season or New Season?

Would have loved to see Joey P get one more crack at some more hardware. I was saying to my buddy that if I were Parker, I would have just let him stay on the ice for the last 6 minutes of the game, that's how hard he was playing. He's always been a bulldog though. Connolly also put in some serious effort.

On one hand, I'm obviously bummed the season is over (barring some sort of hookers 'n' blow, grade-fixing, ineligible-player, mascot-humping scandal that wipes out 8 to 16 in the PWR). On the other hand, we have a very young team, many who have improved significantly over the second half (Clendening, Nieto). I have high hopes for Gill and Coyle too, although Coyle seemed to have been setting expectations too high when he got a hat trick in the exhibition game. Far too much down the stretch he was 'take-it-into-the-corner guy'.

I think the disappointing finish to this season, and the fact that there probably aren't any definite NHL starters on the club, means that we'll return the full squad next year. Maybe they can get Jenn Wakefield or Marie Phillip Poulin to fill the one spot vacated by Periera?

Anyway, disappointing loss, nice to see us at least play 'til the final whistle though. If there was more of that in the first period of games this season, we wouldn't need all the hookers 'n' blow stuff to have our NCAA ticket punched already.

See you all next season, and good luck to the women's hockey team! Bring us some hardware! Oh, and B-ball, once you get by Kansas, the rest of that bracket is a joke. I think Charles Barkley said so.

Go Terriers!

How does this work....BU only loses Glass, Pereira, and Kraus, but aren't Hohmann, O'Connor, Privitera, and Rodrigues all scheduled to be here next year? I assume Cisse and Ronan will be here next year as well. Will one of the new guys be asked to play another year in their current league?

Re: Boston University Part IV: Off-Season or New Season?

"BU isn't dead yet.

CC loses to Wisconsin + Dartmouth loses 1 game in AC + WMU finishes 4th in CCHA + cut line remains 15 = BU invite"

courtesy of Priceless. (sorry Scarlet!)

No need to apologize mookie. Sean Grande texted me that already. I shared it with a few folks in the Friends room. Watch that happen, after I figure out a way to get to Tulsa this Friday......(or Erie) and I can't take the time off. Because you know that would happen to me.

Jason Lawrence was there tonight. Could have used him on the ice tonight.

Sure could have, cause this team could never finish the backdoor play. Jason must have scored 15 goals on that play his Senior year.

CC beat Wisconsin though... didn't they?

Re: Boston University Part IV: Off-Season or New Season?

Watching the highlights right now...can't tell what happened on NU's 2nd goal, but I assume it deflected off a Terrier? I'm basing this off of Millan's reaction (which can get old because I know he's had a lot of those recently). I know he's frustrated, but you don't want to make a habit of that.

Re: Boston University Part IV: Off-Season or New Season?

CC won tonight, don't know how that affects things.

I know its probably not worth it, but I've been playing with the PWR predictor, and there are still lots of scenarios where BU gets in. Most favorites have to win out, AHA and HEA tourney doesn't affect BU too much. CC can win no more than one game, and Western Michigan and Dartmouth have to lose both, and BU is in as long as there are no other upsets, @15.

From the PWR thread.

BU still is not dead.
CC loss to UAA + (Western loss *2) + (Dartmouth loss *2) + cut line at 15 = BU in

Where are you finding this predictor? chn's isnt up yet.

Re: Boston University Part IV: Off-Season or New Season?

Also, Northeastern beating BC @ the Garden would make them a TUC, which helps BU, surprisingly.

USCHO's is up. The killer is that Dartmouth would need to lose to Toothpaste (assuming Yale beats Toothpaste) in the ECAC consolation game. I just can't see Dartmouth losing that game with an NCAA bid on the line. But crazier things have certainly happened.

OK you had me laughing with the mascot humping scandal...

I have found scenarios that have Dartmouth winning the consolation game and BU is in. We aren't done just yet, there are more than a handful of scenarios that get us in. Root against WMU, Dartmouth, and ANY upset auto bid winner not from Atlantic Hockey. UNH winning the tournament would help as well.

AHA not relevant.
CCHA: ND-MI in title, either wins. Miami over WMU in consolation.
ECAC: Yale over Cornell, Dartmouth over Colgate in consolation. Dartmouth beating Cornell, losing to Yale, no difference. Cornell cannot lose the consolation game, but can tie.
HE: UNH over BC
WCHA: CC over UAA, either UMD or BSU, both of those winners lose next game, either DU or NoDak win, no difference.

Assuming RPI breaks ties, BU is last team in the field in all of these scenarios.

I can get us as high as 14 right now, again assuming RPI breaks ties. There are a few big games to watch, but I can't right now find a scenario where WMU beats Michigan in the semis and we still get in. I can find scenarios where Dartmouth and CC both win one game and we get in. We are now HUGE Wolverine fans, among other teams. Interesting that in order to sustain a Dartmouth win, we NEED CC to also win. Conversely, a CC win over UAA does not mean we need Dartmouth to win.
