Re: Boston University Offseason Thread 2: Moving Forward by Booting Forwards

Guess I'll be hearing that a lot as I chose not to renew my season tickets. :(

they went up in price this year. how in the world they justified a price increase after last season and the crappy offseason with total **** for OOC home games is beyond me.

That, in addition to becoming a full-time student again, and possibly leaving the state in September (moving to another Hockey East state, thank goodness), so it didn't make sense to keep them.

Agganis is going to have a rude awakening with the number of people who don't renew. I know at least 3 or 4 off the top of my head who have no plans to do so.

I think this is called the Jeremy Jacobs business model.

What are the levels? (I haven't looked, thankfully)

I'm not renewing, since I didn't make it up for pretty much any game in the second semester, and I know someone else who isn't, either. So that's 5 or 6!

They are getting dangerously close to my price point threshold where I would opt out. (as well as the price point of many of the people I sit with).

Re: Boston University Offseason Thread 2: Moving Forward by Booting Forwards

Just thought I would give up a bump to thoughts on nexts years ;ine-up, considering the recent dismissals and recruiting additions.

Just a SWAG at this point

Courtnall Megan Santana
Gill Nieto Gilroy

Reserves Glass -

D
Warsofsky - NiCastro
Escobedo - Clendening
Noonan - Ruikaa

Reserves - Macgregor / Rosen /

Millan –
Rollie

Any thoughts / errors?

Pretty good for forwards. I'd like to see Santana move up, I'm a real fan of his. I thnk the real only changes will likely be on D

Warsofsky-Nicastro
Clendening (if he shows) - Escobedo
Rosen - Ruikka/Noonan

Alt: MacGregor. Ruikka/Noonan

Reasons: Ruikka has not played a game, any game, in almost 3 years, Noonan is a late addition & fill in last d slot as well as being a true defensive defensman, same type as Ruikka. Rosen is an offensive d man with game experience and proven big point production in juniors. BU needs as much offense generated from the blue line as possible with Shattenkirk and Cohen gone.:(

Boy that D is scary -- and not in the good way.

if youre asking about tickets, i believe it's 478 and i know its 354 with young alumni discount, up $21 from last year. not terribly significant, but given the **** home OOC schedule and the fact that the team took about 10 steps back, there is zero justification for this.

Seems more logical to pick-and-choose the games you want at HAA, and complement them with cheaper games at Matthews, Bright, etc.

That's my plan for this coming season.

Re: Boston University Offseason Thread 2: Moving Forward by Booting Forwards

What are the premium games? Bc, nu, uvm, Maine & uhn?

Re: Boston University Offseason Thread 2: Moving Forward by Booting Forwards

If that's the case, those 8 games cost $31 each, and the other 10 (including brown&harvard + two exhibitions) are $23 each.

i believe so, unless theres some big ooc game up parker's sleeve, but all signs point to no. at least the past two years we had big name western teams coming in that we dont get to see very often, UND, MI, MSU, ND that made the home schedule more appealing. brown, harvard, and the rest of the ecac is not worthy of higher prices. and with there being 2 exhibitions likely, are we really wasting 50+ on ****ty games that dont count? terrible.

I think the battle for the 5th and 6th defensive spots could be an interesting one to watch. Rosen has a fair amount of upside, and I think a full year working with Boyle could be good for him. I'm interested to see if Noonan can handle the Division I college game our of the gates, and I think we're all eager just to see Ruikka actually put on a jersey.

I'd love to either see Gaudet bumped to the third line between Courtnall and Santana, or see one of Gaudet or Nieto moved off center so Nieto can slide up to the second line. I was impressed by the kid when he played at HAA last fall, and I suspect he's ready for more than just fourth-line duties. Wouldn't mind seeing something like:

Connolly - Trivino - Chiasson
Nieto - Megan - Coyle
Pereira - Gaudet - Santana
Gill - Gilroy - Courtnall

I also think this could be a real breakout season for Megan, who was chronically sick for pretty much the entire first semester, but really came into his own in the second half.

I like those forward combos. I have a gut feeling (read: no inside info) Cisse comes this year and makes an impact almost immediately. If that happens, I put him with Pereira and Gaudet, bump Santana to the fourth line and bump Courtnall to the bench.

On defense, Ken's top four seems like pretty much a lock. My gut says Noonan and Ruikka get the bulk of playing time as the third pairing. We'll see. Ruikka getting a lot of playing time wouldn't make a bad story either...

A question for those closer to the situation than I; If Andy Glass becomes a career "healthy scratch" guy, will that be a big surprise compared to the expectations when he was recruited?

Re: Boston University Offseason Thread 2: Moving Forward by Booting Forwards

Any chance Parker puts the three highly-touted freshmen together on a line? From what I've read (because I haven't seen any of them in person), they have more talent than most of the other forwards outside of the first line combo of Connolly-Trivino-Chiasson. Why not have two dangerous lines, a checking line and a bunch of bangers on the fourth line?
