Boston University off-season thread (preparing for 16/17).

Re: Boston University off-season thread (preparing for 16/17).

Picked up my tickets this morning at the post office. Yay!! Hockey next weekend!

That's all. Just wanted to say that. :)

Wow! I honestly didn't realize it was that close...thanks for mentioning!

Watching documentary on '96 world cup of hockey. My god, keith tkachuk looks like an NFL offensive lineman these days.

Oh hooray about the streaming. I was just returning my attention to college hockey and noting that the word is the terriers are gonna be hot stuff this year. That had me considering whether to spring for streaming.

Did we all know that there is a game on Thursday, October 6th? I guess I should probably look at my tickets.

since i get agganis emails, looks like you guys are charging for this exhibition game tomorrow? seems odd. BC doesn't even include tix for exhibition game. typically free admission.

They have always charged for exhibition games and have (AFAIK) always been a part of the season ticket package. BU never passes up a chance to make a buck and frankly it does cost money to put on a game. BU is a much smaller athletic department than BC and doesn't have a $20M check coming in every year.

So tomorrows game is against The University of Prince Edward Island Panthers.

I don't ever remember seeing them visit before.

It looks like last year they came in 5th in the AUS division of CIS Hockey with a record of 11 wins, 14 losses plus an additional 3 overtime losses.

99% sure we have never played UPEI. It seems half of our games have been against Varsity Reds and X-Men. I actually met someone from UPEI a couple weeks ago.

Most likely going to miss this exhibition. But I'm very excited to see/hear how all the freshmen look. Two years ago I made the trip into town and saw Eichel rack up his 5 assists. Perhaps the wealth will be more spread out with this group. :D

Agree the X-Men and Varsity Reds seem to be the most common.

Canadian teams I can remember off the top of my head are:

St. FX "X-Men"
New Brunswick "Varsity Reds"
Toronto "Varsity Blues"
Concordia "Stingers"

Not sure I can remember seeing any others although I'm sure there are.

St. Thomas Tommies a couple years ago.

They were downright awful. I know we had a great team that year, but they were noncompetitive to the point that it wasn't worth playing because Quinn didn't want to run up the score. UNB and the X-Men usually provide good exhibition competition. I can't ever remember a game against UPEI either.
