Boston University @ North Dakota - November 2nd/3rd

Re: Boston University @ North Dakota - November 2nd/3rd

Our dikes could use some touching up...they've taken a pounding the last few springs...

They're football guys...

I'd give them a break on it, but the graphic came up for it too. Maybe they were just playing off of the commentator's lead.

Overall, a very good game to watch. I agree with most in that BU looked tired in the 3rd period. Typically the 3rd period has been BU's strongest this season, so I hope that they can turn it around tomorrow. I think that BU needs to be a little more crisp with their passes and find a way to maintain control upon entering the offensive zone. O'Regan's goal was nice, parked right up in front for the easy put away, something I think has been lacking with BU sometimes.

North Dakota is an exciting team to watch, I really like the up-tempo style of play. Can really fly around the rink and generated some amazing chances.

This is just the old guy in me talking, but...

When the first whistle of the game came just 12 seconds in, I thought of Travis Roy. (For those who don't know the story you can read his book "Eleven Seconds".) A fabulous example of life giving someone lemons and he turns them into lemonade.

Excellent game. Nice to play an opponent who skates fast and hits hard. For the first 30 minutes of game, both teams were flying.

Here's hoping Saturday is as entertaining.

ALSO, here's hoping these teams meet more regularly in the future.

What happened on the McWilliam penalty? Other than the Flopping Finn attempting to win an Oscar, I mean.

As soon as that chowderhead heard the crowd ooh and aww he turtled up pretty good resulting in a major...

Elbow to the head, leaping - skates off the ice, and late to top it off. Will be called more often than not.

It's the new man-on-boy-hit enhancer that got the 5.

Apparently BU players are not the only ones that get a little confused about when "points" are awarded...

"I thought we battled to the end really hard there and got a big two points,” Grimaldi said. “Obviously, we’re looking forward to tomorrow now.”

Umm, Grimaldi got two points...1 goal, 1 assist.

I had heard about the hit, but reserved judgement until I actually saw it. That was a cheap shot, and deserved the penalty that he got.

Whether it was a cheap shot or not, it was not a smart one. The Sioux had big Mo at the time, and it cost one goal against. Mac's physical presence on that team is needed and his is a rock at D, but he is giving the PK unit too much practice, often on penalties that do not even involve physical play.

Agreed. It was a dumb play. The Mac Truck needs to learn when to use his strength and when to lay off. Without that penalty, UND likely cruises to victory.

Re: Boston University @ North Dakota - November 2nd/3rd

So you agree with the refs that it was contact to the head?

Based on that video, yes.

And before anyone claims I'm just saying that because I hate the Whioux, I thought BU was playing a little chippy, if not a little dirty, last night also. Very physical game.

Re: Boston University @ North Dakota - November 2nd/3rd

It appeared shoulder-to-shoulder. There was another ice-level replay that showed it a bit better...not sure why the person who uploaded the youtube clip skipped that replay.

Sloe Gin (UND fan) and his wife Quizmire (BU fan) said shoulder to shoulder also. If there is a better replay, I'd like to see it. I only have that video to go by right now.

And from the looks of it, the youtube clip was uploaded by a Gopher fan...no surprise that they refused to include the one clip that shows the hit better than anything else.

Either way, if anyone says that the BU guy dove, they are very wrong. It was a hard hit with a good "angle" and would knock any player down.
