Re: Boston University 2015-16 thread part 3 - The Postseason

Did I say Lowell was winning because they had older players? I was just simply pointing out that it seems Lowell only recruits older players who dive and grab their opponents stick while they go down to draw a call. I do not care that Lowell recruits older players. I realize they have to do it to be competitive. Lowell deserved to win that series. I don't think anyone is questioning that but that was last year and we were talking about this coming year so I don't see the connection between the two.

I was referring to your decided whining about losing to a better team because they had older players.

If you are not concerned about it then give Lowell some credit for beating your team. Or don't, and prove you are concerned. I am happy to wait till mid March and gauge your responses.

Re: Boston University 2015-16 thread part 3 - The Postseason

I'd assume a Canadian exhibition game prior to going to Denver / Colgage, and then there will most assuredly be a home game for Parents weekend Oct 22nd.

So far we have:

Oct 1 - Canadian Exibition (?)
Oct 8 - @Colgate
Oct 14/15 - @Denver
Oct 22 - Home against someone for parents weekend.

We also know the Beanpot.

Any other OOC opponents we know about besides MI?

I believe Union at home too, might be wrong on that one.

we got our h/h in with them. they came here in jan 15 and we went there in oct 16

From Agganis email today:

"In non-conference action, BU will face off against Beanpot rival Harvard, 2016 National Finalist Quinnipiac, 2014 National Champion Union, and 2013 National Champion Yale. "

I assume those are all going to be home games given that it was in a "renew your season tickets" email. (Perhaps a new home / home against Union is starting?)

Also for those interested:

"Details of the full schedule are still being finalized, but we can inform you that this season, unless television dictates otherwise, our Friday games will start at 7:30 PM and Saturday games will start at 7 PM"

To me that is too far in the other direction again. I know people had a lot of opinion about the 4PM games.... so they went from having none of them to having too many, and now back to none... how about having 2 or 3 of them? Oh well...

Edit: Oh and if I have my ducks in a row, it looks like the price has remained the same (assuming the same number of home games) at $379 per seat for the season.

For the past four seasons and six of the past eight BU has had 18 home dates (regular season and exhibition) as part of the season ticket package (in 2008-09 the Ice Breakers was not included). Unless they add a non-conference game it appears that they will only have 15 regular season and the expected 2 exhibition games next season for 17 home dates. If that is the case then there is a de facto price increase.

Re: Boston University 2015-16 thread part 3 - The Postseason

Are they at their limit of games? Is there a chance to add one more home game?

So far we know of is:

22 HEA
2 Beanpot
@Colgate
@Mich
2@denver
QU
Yale
Harvard
Union
= 32 games

Pretty lame is they are increasing their per game price.

Re: Boston University 2015-16 thread part 3 - The Postseason

It does seem unlikely they would raise ticket prices given the ever dwindling attendance.... Although I wouldn't put it past them.
Attendance is not quite "ever dwindling" as the average was up 16% in 2014-15 and 6% this past season from the Agganis record low in 2012-13, while the median was up 24% and 19% respectively. And its not just BU that is having attendance issues: 10 of the 12 HE schools were down last season from their peak average attendance since 2001 and 7 are down from 2014-15 to last season. Next season with what looks to be a more spread out home schedule and no 4 PM games I think attendance will be better.

I'm more interested to find out if Hockey East will put down their foot with ASN/NESN and eliminate the 6pm Friday games. Those were far more harmful for attendance across the board.

Re: Boston University 2015-16 thread part 3 - The Postseason

When that release before last season came out about HE using ASN for televising games, did it say if it was just a one-year deal or not? I can't remember.

Re: Boston University 2015-16 thread part 3 - The Postseason

I know we'll never get this info but I'd like to see the data HE has on money lost from ticket sales by moving Friday start times to 6pm vs money generated by the TV deal.
