Re: Boston University 2015-16 thread part 3 - The Postseason

Enough with RPI. Please no.

That Oct 22nd game will probably be a lower tier HE team. (Guaranteed win night. :) and Scarlet's birthday so they have to win )

Great minds, mookie. I came on here to ask the same question. Where's the leadership going to come from next season? Legit concern.

Meanwhile, over on the BC thread.... They all want Robbie since everyone's jumping ship.

FYP - :)

If Doyle doesn't stay (and I think now he probably will as I'd like to think that if he was going to sign it would've happened by now, but who knows??) Senior night next year will be jiffy quick.

U-18 Worlds USA vs. Russia tonight on NHL Network. Tape delay (11pm).

Re: Boston University 2015-16 thread part 3 - The Postseason

I know things can still can change at any moment, but it is nice to see this quote from Keller in a USA Hockey interview:

“It was an awesome experience,” Keller said of the 7-4 win on Oct. 16. “Just being able to play with that group of guys and being at BU was really special. The facility was awesome. I met the trainer and spoke to [BU] coach David Quinn. We got to eat in the dining hall, so I got to experience what we will do next year.”

Sure hope the staff is not planning on having Krys come in and be a contributor this fall.

Yeah, why would they be counting on the captain of the US 18&Under National Team, who played in the World Juniors and is a potential NHL First Round pick to be a contributor?

He's 17, way past his prime. We should give up on him.

I caught some, but not all of the U18 game. Keller is filthy. Love his energy and enthusiasm (he gets pretty fired up when the team scores, that's for sure). I think he ended up with 2g and 1a, but it was more just the way he controlled the puck in the offensive zone. Reminds me of Johnny Gaudreau.

Re: Boston University 2015-16 thread part 3 - The Postseason

since everyone so happy that robbie got das boot, no whining in february that the team is missing senior leadership :p

I don't think people are happy he is leaving, I was hoping he could be something of a hybrid of Hohmann and Moran, an upperclassman center on a lower line who could help bring along younger kids. But if he doesn't want to do that he probably wouldn't be very good at it.

Good job by him to both graduate early, and find a loophole to use that to not have to sit out a transfer year to play somewhere else.

Are we still pretending Nick the Greek is dressing ever again?!?

What he did was incredibly stupid, but if anything the full year suspension is excessive for the crime (especially because there was no gambling on college sports or even pro hockey). I would hope BU wouldn't want to add an additional punishment to it by not letting him play the following year either.

Anyone who has any concerns with anything to do with BU's defense for next year should never be allowed to speak again

Possibly but I heard tons of great things about what this past year's BU defense would do and if I had to guess, a lot of you were left underwhelmed.

How about goaltending, are BU fans allowed to be concerned about that? From your ivory castle I plead, should I be worried about veteran leadership?

Agreed. I assume USA will be playing Canada at some point in this tourney. I'm looking forward to seeing Fabbro play for the first time.

Krys and Oettinger looked pretty bad on Russia's wrap-around goal. But I thought they both made up for it later. Oettinger made a ridiculous save on a fat rebound that got a lot air time. And Krys did a nice job on the PP.

Re: Boston University 2015-16 thread part 3 - The Postseason

By all means, lets judge these kids on one game. And while we're at it, let's judge 'em and make a sweeping statement about what they will contribute to a team who's season doesn't start until October. Weee!!!

JD: I thought BU's defense would give up some goals, but based on their offensive skill, I thought it would be one of the top units in the country. I was thoroughly disappointed in their play down the stretch. Like the Bruins, this needs to change next season.

Maybe because he plays with 17 year olds and looks average. Oh forgot, his dad was someone i guess.

Agreed, especially because no 17-year-old has ever gotten better at hockey after having a few bad games.

Nope got Oettinger coming in to play goal. Aren't allowed to be worried about that either silly! As a Lowell fan, I may have some concerns though with the numbers Metcalf is putting up in the USHL this year.

BU will have 7 juniors and a senior next year(as of now) so not really worried about that either. Granted BU's juniors are actually the age of Lowell's freshmen so maybe I should be concerned? nahhhhh

Remember you're not concerned when you're whining about it in mid march.

Captains for 2016-2017:

C - Doyle Somerby
A - Nik Olsson
A - JFK, even though that NU poster said he was signing with the Bruins
