Re: Boston University 2015-16 thread part 3 - The Postseason

Anymore? Haven't really had to try to hard up to this point.

So, since he was the hand-picked successor, this sort of makes for an uncomfortable conversation, doesn't it????

There are just way too many similarities here between a Parker-"coached" team and a Quinn-"coached" team.

I mean, did they even practice the past two weeks? Why the same ineffective strategies in all three zones? Why is there no heart or fight with this team when they had plenty of it last year? Why did so many players regress from last year to this year, or fail to improve?

The worst part is that we won't get answers to these questions because no one will ask, and the same bull**** will continue to happen year after year and Quinn won't be held accountable.

So now all mookie's got is to cheer for the next three teams BC will be playing (and they'll lose too)

Young D?!?!?

They all played into the national championship game last year (crept for Charlie)

Guess again

Correct. Doesn't change the fact that they are relying on a F and 3 So on the back line, even if the So played deep into last year. I will give you that Somerby is a huge part of the problem at the back, and he ain't young.

Be gentle, mookie. I ain't the reason they are sucking right now, and i ain't got no influence on whether or not they get better. ;)

Re: Boston University 2015-16 thread part 3 - The Postseason

Jack is saying he feels as though they have "never recovered" from the 2nd night loss at Notre Dame (which, as we know, would have allowed them to avoid playing at Lowell). Some other quotes, "You can't play when you're afraid to make a mistake." "They look jumpy." "They're playing on the wrong end of the psychological spectrum...instead of going out to win, they're playing not to lose." Interesting comments...but the bottom line is not the same. They don't step up when the big lights come on. All of this makes me wonder if many of these guys have the attitude, "Yeah, we lost, but the NHL is ahead and that's what I'm looking forward to." And, to be honest, if that's the way they recruit ("we put tons of players in the NHL"), then they get what they deserve. Lack of commitment and selfishness.

His comments are pretty on point. Whether the deductions are true, I'm not sure. Don't know that it's fair to assume that's what they're thinking, but there's clearly some mental breakdowns that have been going on for some time. Also not sure that it's the second ND game that they haven't recovered from. Don't know what happened that there is to recover from. They played really well that night and Peterson stole the game. I'd posit they haven't recovered from losing the Beanpot final.

Everyone needs to play back this BU broadcast to listen to Jack's comments...especially between the 2nd and 3rd periods relating to recruiting and how this tournament has been "dominated by 25 year-olds" and how you have to "mix" some of that into your recruiting. Very interesting...

Did anyone have "Charlie" in the misconduct pool?

Re: Boston University 2015-16 thread part 3 - The Postseason

What are mookie's thoughts about quinn without jack eichel? ;)

Holy hell this league has taken a beating

Re: Boston University 2015-16 thread part 3 - The Postseason

I think it is more about talent level and depth. They are short on talent and shaky at the back, and they know it. Players press and try to play above their heads, try to do too much, try to force plays, and make dumb turnovers. That leads to a few easy GA when their keeper can't bail them out. Then they really press / doubt and it looks like today.

This team is what their record shows: a middle of the pack team in a good conference who can beat a better team at home if they catch a few breaks and their goalie plays well. Sucks, but there it is.

This is why I said it might be a "little" too early still and that if this happens again next year it needs to be seriously discussed. Eichel is one of those "Bird" type players who makes everyone around him better. So, in a strange sort of way, it's tough to really evaluate anything when the situation is so skewed with one dominant player. We'll know MUCH more next year when this purportedly "phenomenal" recruiting class comes in...

As far as the league, we could still have two teams in the Frozen Four.

So then what you're basically saying is that Eichel covered up a lot of their deficiencies (or made up for them) last year...so that begs the question...isn't it a little disturbing that there has been no improvement in any of the "supporting cast," MOST of whom made it to a national championship game last year? I didn't think you could have "one man" teams at this level...

Re: Boston University 2015-16 thread part 3 - The Postseason

That was about the 9th time LaCouvee didn't know a shot had gone behind him. He puts up that blocker, then just holds like that, like he's wondering what to do next.
