Boston University 2015-16 thread part 2-move along! nothing to see here! all is well!

Last night? None that stick out blatantly I can remember.

Quinn referred to the third goal as "a horrible goalie/D exchange".

I believe the goal in question is shown around the 36 second mark of the highlight video, but the it's not the whole play.

Oh, that one? That goal had a lot more to do with Doyle getting injured on the play along the sideboards taking him out of the play, everyone trying to reorganize their coverage and Zink ending up wide open for an uncontested slapper in close. Don't remember a bad puckhandling play and it certainly did not directly lead to a goal. Point being, I don't see this as a growing O'Connor-esque trend with Maguire whatsoever. He's not the world's best puckhandler by any means, but there isn't an issue with him giving up goals because of it imo. He did the right thing on Friday night, his defenders both did not, twice.

There was something before somerby got hit that should have had the puck out of the zone.

or St. Paul. Flights (direct) are considerably cheaper to MSP than to CVG for that weekend. Not to mention the chances of a pipe bursting below the ice are higher in the US Bank Arena (I think that's the current name of the place)...

At this point, I don't think where we end up really matters. I doubt we'd win a game, so we'll probably just file an NCAA tournament appearance for the record books and build for next year.

I honestly don't know about that. Wouldn't be shocked to see BU in Tampa. I think they've been getting better as the season has progressed. Maguire has answered a question mark in goal. Oksanen is still scoring even without Eichel. You never know.

I worry about their ability to put it together over a long stretch over good teams. Didn't have that concern last year until O'Connor kneecapped the season on his second attempt (failed try in FF vs North Dakota )

I felt like the 1st half of the season was marked by BU playing much of their best hockey against the top teams and playing down to lesser teams. So far in the 2nd half they've thoroughly taken care of the lesser teams, but haven't done so against the BCs and Lowells of the league. But as a whole they've improved and could be dangerous in the postseason with Maguire's goaltending (Saturday at Lowell notwithstanding) and an above-average offense despite not enough depth.

I think they could be more dangerous in the regionals than in HE b/c of whom they'll likely face (re: Lowell) in the HE tourney. Wouldn't be shocked if they don't advance to the Garden for HE, yet make it to Tampa.

Sure Maguire has been playing well, and the defensive performance at Lowell was certainly a fluke. I'm more concerned with the rest of the team. The offense has been pretty poor since since the Maine weekend. We scored four against Merrimack but it was ugly, and six against UMass but that's pretty meaningless. I think Oksanen in particular has not been playing well since that Maine series. We'll see, but I am not holding out hope on making the HE semis or winning a game in the NCAAs.

That's kind of what I'm thinking as a possibility. Sometimes getting away from league opponents is a good thing and has been great for BC recently (Pirate Jerry's struggles with D1.5 players littering the lineup notwithstanding) especially when it may come to style of play. HE is a tough league and I think the league will do well in the tournament.

i think the top of hea is perhaps the top of the ncaa. wouldn't be surpised to see bc and pc in the tampa final. given that then, bu would have a much better chance to pocket some wins in the ncaa tourney while not so much in the hea tourney.

Since where BU might wind up won't be determined until later, let's just focus on this weekend, shall we? Ain't gonna go nowhere if we can't come out of this weekend with two wins.

I am not a fan of 8:30pm starts, especially when they're not at home. Though....it will allow for extra time to make the trek to Durham without having to leave the office after lunch.

ETA: Breaking my own rule here.....you don't think the NCAA will try to keep BU east?? Providence got special treatment last year. Why not us this year?

Agreed they are going the wrong direction in the PWR and need to sweep this weekend and split next weekend to have any breathing room.

Until the loss to UML, BU had been consistently moving up in the PWR. We did not drop after the loss to BC.

Anyone else notice that since the Roberto news broke there hasn't been a 50/50 raffle? Just Chuck A Pucks.
