Re: Boston University 2015-16 thread part 2-move along! nothing to see here! all is w

100% nothing to do with BU games
100% zero or for that matter any college hockey games

Hoky, what happens if a kid bets on, say, the Super Bowl (one of them stupid squares things that everyone at the office does), which would make you ineligible in some capacity (see Don't Bet On It poster) and then play in BU hockey games. Are you ineligible at that point? Or only after the investigation is done and then put in the sin bin by the NCAA?

If we're talking about him betting on other sporting events, technically it's no worse of a legal situation than you and I starting a poker game in our basement. At that point, it's simply illegally taking or making bets on things. From a moral and NCAA standpoint, that it has nothing to do with games in which he's involved, that changes the severity of what we're talking about a lot.

No clue
NCAA is a farce as an org. Just look what they did to tiger woods. Org that's all about their payroll and cash, not the kids

The Freep getting scooped by other people not associated with BU is nothing new is it?

Freep is a student newspaper

Cox works for the world wide leader covering college hockey in New England.
For him to not break what people are inferring is the biggest scandal story in forever --- well maybe he should go pick up an application at Wendy's

I don't know if they're getting scooped, or if they're actually the only ones upholding journalistic integrity by not peddling rumors and incomplete stories on Twitter or elsewhere.

Cox works for SBNation covering college hockey. They pay less than Wendy's

Here's the story:
http://www.collegehockeynews.com/news/2015/12/21_bus_roberto_suspended_for.php

Summary - NO BETTING ON BU GAMES OR COLLEGE HOCKEY GAMES. Involved in previously linked gambling ring that was busted. May involve players from other teams. Also involved is former BC/UMass player Keith O'Connell.

Step off the ledge, this does not appear to be some program-crippling scandal. Glad someone finally reported the story and BU came out and ended the farce of these rumors.

Lost a lot of respect for Jeff Cox today. Him putting out those tweets were disgusting. He was trying to take down BU hockey for no reason.

Is he still enrolled in school?

Completely agree. Even TMZ doesn't float half stories like that. Report the confirmed facts if you have them, or say nothing.

About time we get news on Roberto. Shame though.

Wouldn't necessarily say he was trying to take the program down, but his habit of sensationalizing and getting a story out 1st without the facts has been his M.O. He's his own biggest fan.

Agree he's not trying to take the program down, but it's completely irresponsible "journalism" on his part. He's not even getting the story out first, he's teasing that a story exists, that it's bad, that he knows what it is and won't tell, and is accomplishing nothing more than fanning the flames of rumors. Shameful.
