If you were inclined to pay players to throw a championship game, why would you give money to.....Roberto? Really, you'd start and end with the goalie who has the ability to lose a game for you by giving up...multiple...soft...goals....hmmmm....;)

Regarding ditching BU for the paradise that is Canada, I can see it if you're being asked to play a constipated offensive style that's stifling your development. BU doesn't do that anymore so I'm not sure that's still an excuse. If you can't crack the top 2 lines here, you're most likely not that good as other posters have mentioned so get your free college degree and stop whining.

I was told the betting has nothing to do with hockey at all. Who knows anymore.

Pure speculation on my part, but I wonder if it had anything to do with any of these fellows: http://patch.com/massachusetts/fenwaykenmore/33-indicted-122-counts-illegal-betting-operation-case

@smclaughlin9 there have been sensational rumors, but not far off. This is very damaging for BU and college hockey as a whole. Very sad.

Not sure how college kids betting on other sports would be considered damaging to BU and college hockey but again, who the hell knows.

Depends on your definition of damaging. That said, the point shaving angle of this makes absolutely no sense and the facts just don't add up. Whether he bet on BU to win the FF, who knows. That wouldn't be the same as point shaving but still would be incredibly damaging.

Roberto as well as a few other former (and current?) players across several teams are all from the same area and are close friends (Collier, etc). I doubt it, but maybe that's how? Just a shot in the dark.

I would be surprised, even shocked if any kid was dumb enough to bet on a game involving his own team.

to me, even if he bet on his team to win it all, i still wouldn't consider that very damaging. stupid? absolutely. but when i think very damaging i think tanking/point shaving. that's just me though. different than say a Pete Rose maybe only betting on his team to win certain nights, which can impact how you manage throughout a season.

Oh come on. That's pretty bad, betting on your own game...

What if a high profile guy in the NHL was one of the two former players? Could that be more damaging to the game of college hockey as someone tweeted with knowledge of this? And yes I am completely throwing this at the wall... but that was my first reaction reading the Jeff Cox tweet.

I think at the end of the day we're talking about multiple NCAA violations at minimum which is a pretty big deal. The NCAA doesn't exactly like the gambling thing.

i'm just thinking about integrity of the game aspect. like i said, it's obviously stupid to do because he should know he's not supposed to.

Again, depends on your definition of damaging. Point shaving in a national championship game would be an utter and complete disaster. NCAA Death Penalty would be on the table, Quinn and entire coaching staff likely fired, entire program investigated thoroughly by the NCAA going back decades. But again, I don't think it's true and the facts just don't line up. For heaven's sake, it was Roberto who got his stick on the loose puck along with Hohmann in the final minute that nearly went in. And yes, I watched it last night about 10 times with a tin foil hat on to see if there was a way to spin it that he tried to prevent it from going in - didn't happen.

Re: Boston University 2015-16 thread part 2-move along! nothing to see here! all is w

Yeah, you can't be betting on or against your team. You with money on the game could be enticed to take out a rival player and accept the ejection from the game as long as it enhances your chances to collect $$$. No way you want that to be part of the game.

Didn't think of it in that context. Very good point.

That's awesome and not going to lie I was going to do the same thing parsing the last 10 minutes of the game

Re: Boston University 2015-16 thread part 2-move along! nothing to see here! all is w

And obviously none of us want it being part of the game, I was just going off a hypothetical of a college kid thinking his team would win it all. Have to wait for the details I guess.

There's nothing to it. Not to mention, why would a bookie look to fix a game by approaching a third line forward? Anyone with half a brain could see BU's top line last year could fully change the outcome of a game entirely by themselves, even if one third line forward was actively trying to throw it. But that's not the point, remembering the progression of the game, and rewatching the end, there's absolutely no evidence anyone was trying to throw it.

Re: Boston University 2015-16 thread part 2-move along! nothing to see here! all is w

100% nothing to do with BU games
100% zero or for that matter any college hockey games

Just incredibly irresponsible for these so-called reporters to hem and haw and insinuate with vague tweets.

Report what you've heard.

Quote "from sources" an investigation ongoing.

"Months"? Really - and you've nothing concrete over what hoky knows??? Get a new job then boys
