Re: Boston University 2012 Offseason

yes, hindsight is 20/20. :) We based his stock on those point totals. He evidently takes it up a notch when surrounded with top-notch talent like 2009.

Lawrence had 30-21-51 in 59 games for absolutely loaded U18 team that-besides Kane and Kessel--also had Carmen, Rahkshani, Stoa, Mueller, Gerbe, Geoffrion, Skille and Strait. His total was fifth best on the team. Lawrence commited to BU before going to Ann Arbor, following a season with the Jr. Bruin (20-26-46).

It's all good HD. You're right more often than not and I'm sure you're glad that you didn't write "Joe Schmo is leaving" now.

You still can be more cryptic than necessary but it adds to your mystique.

I'm not renewing...I'll buy some of those $10 tickets they sell mid-season.

You guys know the ones...the seats you pay $24 for.

Who is the Swedish defenseman that is supposed to join the team? Has he cleared customs yet?

Are you sure you're in the right thread? I think that would be news to most of us here.

And to Hokydad's credit- he's right more often than he is wrong and at least he was honorable enough to admit it was a false alarm.

Yeah atleast he admitted he was wrong. Also it would make sense if the defenseman coming would be international and why it is taking so long to fill Clendening's scholarship. Hetnik is back to Vernon for another year so right now we have 6 dmen for next year with Ronan being forced into action with any injury. I hadn't heard of anything specific but the incoming class also hasn't been officially announced so I guessed they are still doing paperwork with the guy coming in on Clendening's scholarship.

I am in the right thread. As you probably know, imports from real foreign countries (not Canada) often pose special problems which cause delays or futility. the Bu D looks pretty thin and you may need some help for your rookie goalies. If you don't deepen your defense, your forwards will have to change their style in order to help out. In this case, the more things that are changed, the more things will not remain the same.

With a post like "one down...", you'd think that person would actually be sure about his "inside" information.

Re: Boston University 2012 Offseason

So now that all the excitement is over, time to play that fun game of wondering what the lines will look like. Can someone remind me who the centers are? Is it Megan, Hohmann, Santana, and Rodrigues? Courtnall? How about among the newbies? Of course some guys move to wing here and there, but in terms of primary position, who are they?

How many of the freshmen forwards win jobs by Thanksgiving, and who do they beat out?

Centers would be Gill, O' Regan, Hohman, Rosen if I had to take a guess right now. Megan seemed to struggle when he moved there right after the departures mid-season.

Rosen: 35 GP: W-183 L-165: %.526
Megan: 39 GP: W-40 L-43: %.482
Holmann: 35 GP:W-160 L-176: %.476
Gill: 39 GP: W-142 L-185: %.434

Rosen was the tops in faceoff percentage at the end of the year of active players. Megan didn't do bad at all (although all were below 50% except Rosen). Holmann was very close to Megan. Gill was way off the lead. Key face off times in games, based on actuals, I'd want Rosen to take the draw with Megan out there if Rosen got tossed.Strange game....

Even though he was drafted by Vancouver as a LW, Wes Myron, a left shot, should be in the center mix. Before his injury last season, he centered the top scoring BCHL line with Mike Moran and Merrimack recruit Wade Murphy. When he verballed , USHR wrote:
Myron, a tall, lanky kid with the frame of an NHL-type center, is a strong skater who has shown a lot of finish in the BCHL. Myron has the potential to be a top two line center for the Terriers, which, should Charlie Coyle opt to go pro (not a foregone conclusion), would fill a very immediate need. (10/29/11
Rodrigues, Cisse and Kurker should be the top three RWs, Santana likely the fourth. Nieto, Megan, Courtnall, Lane, and Moran are the LWs. Not sure if Moscatel is in the forward mix or will be a swingman as Smolinksky was in 08-09.

Faceoffs are reportedly an O'Regan strength, too. In the World U18s vs. Canada, he won 9 of 12.

Re: Boston University 2012 Offseason

I go into every season (of late) hoping that the freshmen will all be in the line-up by November, because that would be a sign that the new kids have upped the skill level on the team. I am once again hopeful, though I wouldn't mind if it was improvement by the returnees that kept them in the line-up. I expect Rodrigues to increase his point total dramatically - he showed flashes of brilliance, and I think he'll start putting it together with more Gs and As. I'm not as convinced with Hohmann, but hopefully he can step it up as well. I also think that Nieto will improve to the point of being considered one of the best forwards in the league.

For the freshmen, certainly Kurker is expected to contribute. O'Regan and Lane also bring impressive resumes, and I'd like to seem them both in the regular line-up. Myron got some press for being drafted, and I guess Moran is the biggest unknown.
