Re: Boston University 2012-13 Season Thread -- Up To The Task?

Somehow hoky still doesn't know how to use the quote feature properly.

Frozen Four talent????

UNH 4 BU 1
North Dakota 4 BU 2
BC 4 BU 2
UNH 3 BU 1
BC 5 BU 2
Denver 6 BU 0

2-6 vs top 20 teams, I wouldnt worry about Frozen Four.

Outscored 26-8 in the 6 losses

Now that is a reasonably decent post from HD, even if the quote feature still is quite a mystery to him. They do have some nice freshmen that should get better as the season progresses. But again, good results over a bad schedule could be deceptive.

I'm not sure BU has the intangibles (leadership, a coach that isn't senile, etc.) to go on a big run.

Yeah, Bomber should have said we don't have FF talent. Instead of what he did say, which is that we don't have FF talent.

This team could be pretty good, but I <b>don't</b> think they have Frozen Four talent.

Not only can't Hokydad use the quote function properly, he can't read either.

Except they're actually 3-6 vs top 10 teams. With 2 of those losses happening halfway across the country, and 4 of the 6 coming on the road. I think 3-6 against top 10 teams is pretty good considering 6 of the games were on the road and it was all in the first half as part of by far the most difficult schedule in college hockey thus far. And considering BU is tied for 6th in the country in the pairwise, I think his statement (suggesting that although we are a good team and some would consider BU to be in the running for a frozen four appearance, he doesn't think we have the talent) is a completely reasonable one.

And considering that at this point last year, Ferris State had 8 losses and only 1 win against a top 10 team, you might want to rethink your assessment or just stop posting in general.

Seeing that the second half just started, no sh** genius.
How is it by far the toughest schedule when they are 6th pairwise.

Anyway you want to look at it, road, home, neutral, no one cares.

3-6.

Maybe you should stop posting

Re: Boston University 2012-13 Season Thread -- Up To The Task?

Parker's had this problem (team not putting in full effort, or collectively taking games off) for 20 years. Anybody who remembered the 9-1 blowout in the championship vs Lake St knows that. They may as well not even gotten dressed for that game. I can site numerous other instances but I won't bother. For whatever reason his players aren't motivated. That may not matter over the course of a long season, but in the do or die playoffs where one loss sends you packing, I worry about these guys putting in the effort for 4 straight games to earn some hardware.

Parker doesn't believe in motivating his players. Read today's blog. You can't make this stuff up. smh

Re: Boston University 2012-13 Season Thread -- Up To The Task?

Personally, while confidence can be a huge deal and winning lends a great deal to confidence, my concern for BC, and BU as well if I was a BU fan (ha!), is that these two teams have the easiest schedules remaining in the league and wins down the stretch against such weak competition may mask some problems that get exposed come tournament time. Are any BU fans worried about this? Or just pile up wins and keep moving in the right direction?

Actually, yes. It's very easy to get complacent playing against a whole string of teams perceived to be lesser than you. Of course, the schedule is what the schedule is and it's set by the conference, but I'd much rather spread the tougher opponents over the course of the season. Hopefully our guys can stay motivated and hungry and show the progression we saw in November into early December.

Man something got you angry today. Thanks for the compliment though.

I would be willing to bet that anyone in the world who has ever watched sports knows that it does matter and road games are tougher to win than home games (there's a reason home teams get a bonus in the spread). That's where the term "home court advantage" comes from. They are still losses and count the same in the standings but in terms of a team's performance and ability, road losses aren't as disappointing as home losses.

And if you don't understand SOS or the pairwise system how can you even claim to know whether a team is capable of a frozen four appearance? Especially considering how early in the season it is. As you said, "the second half just started".
