Boston University 2012-13 Season Thread -- Up To The Task?

Re: Boston University 2012-13 Season Thread -- Up To The Task?

The team looked pretty good. Seemed to be a more solid effort than I've gotten use to. Gillies looked very sharp for PC and came up with some good saves - could have been 6-4 easily.

Nice crowd at the game too; a little small (posted attendance ~4800 I think?) but it seemed like the majority of the crowd was actually into the game.

Should be an interesting season.

O'Connor seemed to take some time to settle down but did so nicely eventually; ctd?

He seemed really emotional a lot of the game. Doing fist bumps when BU scored and getting upset with himself when he made mistakes. It's nice that he's into the game but I think he could stand to calm down a bit. You don't want your goaltender too easily rattled. He played well though. Pretty good positioning for a frosh and a strong glove.

Good effort by the whole team. Lots to be happy about I think.

Didn't get to see this game from DC but it sounds like they're not falling into the "play well for two periods then get sloppy and start racking up dumb penalties" habit of last year.

But then, it's just one game so far.

Important questions still unanswered: How much would it cost to get my car painted to match Maguire's helmet?

Crazy to think that Kieran is gone. Seems like the young guy played well though.

I would like to register a complaint! (to be spoken in a John Cleese accent from the dead parrot skit).

The video highlights on the BU athletic sight have become almost useless. They often show, literally the last half of a second before a goal is scored. Check out Hohmann's goal on the highlights from last nights game (or either of the PC goals). Is the cost per second super high? Also, I would prefer the angle from above rather than the ice level angles they often show, which give you know idea how a play developed.

Someone who can make a difference, please do!

Idk about Maguire but it must be pretty cheap to match O'Connor's hideous black mask. I really hope his mask just didn't come in yet

I find the whole thing sad more than anything else. They're just kids. What a waste. I just hope they can still find a way to salvage their lives, and that the justice system won't leave them in worse shape than when it found them.

He's getting it Thursday.

ETA - if you follow BU Athletics on Twitter, they retweeted the pic from that woman that every goalie uses to paint masks. It's pretty cool.

Wow, I just tried to watch those highlights. It's like "Blair Witch"! There should be a motion sickness warning at the beginning.

Has to be on the Top 10 list of worst movies ever made...I remember to this day going to the theater with my wife to see it. I think we were the only people there over 16...there had to be hundreds of teenagers...the movie just "ended" after 81 minutes of nothing...I'll never forget the girl in the row behind us saying "That's it??" when it was over. We just laughed hysterically, because those were our thoughts exactly...

Nothing to do with hockey, but I agree - they need to get someone with an understanding of sports editing the highlights...

Good game by the Terriers. Lots of energy and not too many stupid plays. Goalie looked pretty solid although I have no idea how good Providence is supposed to be. I too was curious about the crowd or lack of one to be more specific.

Actually, I thought the crowd size was pretty good for mid-October with big college football games and baseball playoffs for competition. Additionally, PC isn't much of a draw. No comment on the quality of the program, they just don't pull people into the arena.

The students were all there and packed in, the between the goal line crowd were the majority of the absent ones this time. Though I'm actually surprised how many there were, I had expected more of the casual fans to have jumped off the bandwagon with last year's off ice issues. Fairly decent crowd in general. Some wins would go a long way to bringing back some more people.

Re: Boston University 2012-13 Season Thread -- Up To The Task?

By the way, I noticed that there were no goal judges in place Saturday night. Have they become obsolete?
