Re: Boston University 2012-13 Season Thread -- Up To The Task?

Pre game it did look like they were having to do some ice repairs so they must have been having some trouble with it.

That was debris they were cleaning off from the mats they used for the BUPD color guard and Dear Abbeys for the national anthem.

Re: Boston University 2012-13 Season Thread -- Up To The Task?

Is it too much to ask that we see replays of all goals not just those scored by BU
This is old school thinking. The paying fan deserves to see as much as someone sitting at home
The NFL has tried to address this problem and shows the booth replays that the official views.

I missed the Hayes goal after his intial shot and a replay would have helped

1000000000% agree. We all would've loved to have seen what the hell happened on the behind the net bank shot goal, since we could only see the broken up 2 on 1 then suddenly the puck's in the net and we're bufuddled. I can understand not showing a replay while an official is reviewing it, but please for the love of Freddy Meyer, show it afterwards.

Re: Boston University 2012-13 Season Thread -- Up To The Task?

Defkit, maybe they should just stick to the ugly goalie chant for opposing goalies...the sexy one is a little creepy IMO.

Ugly goalie one is at least creative and creativity isnt commonplace at hockey east rinks.

The orginal is indeed creative. What cracked me up with the sexy goalie chant, was that once I realized what they were saying, I anticipated exactly what would happen when he put his mask down, and the crowd delivered. It was just funny in my mind.

While never one to put too much time into gauging where the ladies (or guys in some cases) might put a male on the attractiveness scale, I did notice that his official team photo bears a resemblance to Mr. Beckham back in his younger days (I'll let some with more technical skills put up the side-by-side photos). So I wasn't surprised when I heard the chant.

Stopped by here today to see if there was any interesting thoughts on a pretty good hockey game. I should have know it would be mostly monkey house feces slinging. My bad. I are a moron.

Re: Boston University 2012-13 Season Thread -- Up To The Task?

Watching the game on NESN, couple of observations:

1.) Jack Edwards is horrible. He's the only reason why the NHL lockout is tolerable
2.) BC is heads and shoulders better than BU. They seemed out of sync on the power play, otherwise it would have bee a 5 goal blowout
3.) O'Connor is going to be a good goalie for BU and should play most of the games the rest of the way.

Re: Boston University 2012-13 Season Thread -- Up To The Task?

Maybe I'm just unimpressed with BC because I expected more from a #1. There's no doubt they're good, but I wouldn't call their win a dominant performance. BU's major problem was shots on goal. How many shots are they going to miss wide or high? We ended the night with 27 shots on goal but that number could have been higher. O'Connor was the most impressive terrier on the ice tonight. Barring 2 goals I could barely see because they came from unconventional angles, he had a solid night in terms of quality saves. He surprised me with his ability to cover the 5-hole despite being a large goalie.

The most notable absence of archetype player for BU was the lack of a power forward. I saw BC stand us up at lot at the blue line just as Merrimack had the night before. We just don't have a guy who can reliably carry the puck into the offensive zone without getting knocked off.

BC scored like 40 seconds into the game and never trailed, right? That means BU (a top ten team give or take) lost at home to its fiercest rival and trailed for 59:20 of the game. Umm, that sounds like a pretty **** good team to me.

LOL, the guy complaining that Jack is talking about other HE teams, when he is paid -in part- to watch them, is now giving suggestions to opposing student sections? This is the height of just-too-muchery.

it's a predominantly male student section

Check your ratios again, kiddo.

Re: Boston University 2012-13 Season Thread -- Up To The Task?

I saw a lot of potential last year in Cisse but notice he hasn't been much of a factor on the scoresheet. What's the story on him?

The guy next to me at the game said it best: Good hands, good speed, just can't do both at the same time.

I don't see him becoming a point-getter on this team. He wasn't really able to get past anybody one-on-one. His role should remain 3rd/4th line, wreak some havoc, and use your good hands to convert on the occassional turnover you force.

he gets his shot off quicker than anyone else on the team, and quicker than anyone else ive seen in a while. the problem is, he's a terrible puck handler, his speed seems to come and go, and i haven't seen too much playmaking ability. i gave him a bit of a pass last year since he was coming off that long ankle injury which can be really hard to recover from, but it would be really helpful to see some better production out of him this season.

that said, hohmann is the far and away leader candidate for most improved player on the team. holy shnikes, kid's got wheels. he outskated the entire BC d line last night at least three or four times.

Re: Boston University 2012-13 Season Thread -- Up To The Task?

Just watched the highlights at the Hockey East channel. (Or whatever it is.) On that first goal, the faceoff is won by BU, and Privitera just looks at the puck sitting there. And it's his man who jumps around him, pounces on the puck, and wraps it around for the goal. Gotta move your feet!

Re: Boston University 2012-13 Season Thread -- Up To The Task?

I don't understand why the fanboys are all sourpusses today. Last weekend they split and were over-the-moon about this demonstration of mediocrity. Now this weekend they split and they are all moping around this thread complaining about the BC fans. Why they sudden change of heart?

In the end both fanbases won this weekend. BC won two games this weekend. BU split to attain the mediocrity they so covet and no one got arrested (that we know of). That is a win-win situation for all of us. Now can't we all just get along.

Ya, this is just a phenomenal comparison on your part. The next time you hear a hockey east coach not named jack parker say what he said, let me know...k? I'm hardly the first uscho poster to comment on what happens in the stands.

I have no problem with you or any other poster criticizing Jack's comments, or with anyone discussing what happens in the stands.

But to pretend that you saying:
he should just keep his mouth shut on the topic and worry about his own team.
then just a couple days later popping up "worrying about" another team like this:
they should just stick to the ugly goalie chant for opposing goalies
is not comically hypocritical is something I am not able to do.

If you feed him he will never go away.
