Yeah, good win guys at a tough place to get one. BU looks like it has nice balance in its lines this year.

Having said that, you guys have really got to quit the embellishment crap...

Given how ridiculous Noonan looked and how it really hurt the team by killing the 5 on 3, I have no doubt that Parker had some words with him.

Re: Boston University 2012-13 Season Thread -- Up To The Task?

Privitera referred to Matt O'Connor as 'O.C.' He's got big shoes to fill if he's gonna go by O.C.

(Cue fanboy/glow stick/veiled homophobic reply in 3, 2, 1 ... )

Re: Boston University 2012-13 Season Thread -- Up To The Task?

The fans were booing Privitera because on Friday night he hit a UND student in the face with his stick while sitting in the penalty box. The fan uploaded a photo of the aftermath and it's floating around the internet. I have yet to see it myself. He also squirted fans with a water bottle.

In the postgame interview Privitera admitted to both, but told the reporter that the water bottle thing was just between the two of them (another hockey beat writer overheard the interview).

ETA: Blogger Tim Boger writes about the incident and has quotes from said postgame interview: http://kellygreenwhite.wordpress.com...exx-privitera/

Isn't he suppose to show self control and can he get in trouble for assault unless the fan was climbing into the box and threatening him? And where the heck is security if a fan is going over the top?

Given how ridiculous Noonan looked and how it really hurt the team by killing the 5 on 3, I have no doubt that Parker had some words with him.

Parker addressed it publicly in the press conference also:

Seconds before the end of the period, junior defenseman Garrett Noonan was penalized for diving while BU was on a 5-on-3. Noonan was in front of the net when a North Dakota player shoved him, and the fall he took – arms and legs flailing – drew the referees’ attention.

“If you look at the film, that guy cross-checked him right in the head,” Parker said. “And then there was no call, so he tried to embellish it. It should have been two for cross-checking and two for embellishment. But that has got to get out of our game and it has never been in our game. We don’t want it to be a part of BU hockey.”

there is always something out there that "should" be called. kids have to learn to let the refs do their job and just concentrate on their own. ****ing annoying to see..

Did last year suck the life out of everyone? Where are all your posters? Figured this thread would be packed given the pretty good start to the season.

Hello I just wanted to say that I am a Sioux Fan and I just returned from Grand Forks from being there for the weekend with my family. We sat near the BU students or fans a group of 16 or 17, and I have to say that I was very impressed with these fans. They were nice and respectful to the home team crowd and only saw one thing that was remotely questionable, but no biggie. It was a a great experience and I was happy to be there with them. Great series and great games and you all should be proud at how well these fans represented you all!

Thanks

Thanks! Most everyone in Grand Forks was incredible hospitable and friendly, better than most HE schools we visit! We had a blast at REA and loved being there. Thanks for having us, hope to see you in Boston next season!

Well, Rogie just got his power back today, so that explains one of them :D And perhaps the travel for those that made the trek to Grand Forks is limiting posts.

Certainly lots of positives to the start of the season, and last night's win has me pretty jacked up. I'd say we are pretty much where I expected, at 4-2.

Positives - last night's W, O'Regan, O'Connor, Hohmann, and Grezlyck (sp?).
Concerns - Kurker (perhaps needs a semester to adjust to the speed), Maguire (though Friday night made me much more comfortable), team defense (as I expected).
Outlook - we certainly have the potential to be an NCAA team. We haven't shown we are at the same level as BC and UNH - we'll see how Sunday goes.

Re: Boston University 2012-13 Season Thread -- Up To The Task?

Not a bad weekend of hockey for BU. While I think they looked fairly good, I've never seen a group so excited to get a split... well maybe UNH has been guilty of this once or twice. :D

O'Regan certainly looks good. He will probably be runner-up for HE ROTY behind Matheson. Privitera certainly has had a nice jump from freshman to sophomore season so far, although probably not enough to warrant the constant BJs from the ND announcers this weekend (because if he was Ray Bourque it still wouldn't have warranted that much attention). I'm not surprised as he looked fairly solid as a freshman last year. Grzlaldkjalsdjdsck looks pretty solid as well, pretty smooth. Has some Warsofsky in him IMO (could make a killer combo in Providence for the next 10 years). We'll see about the tenders.

It seems BU got an infusion of talent and is also benefitting from the loss of some knuckleheads and predators (no not Colin Wilson). I think the mindset of the team after last year's mess is going to be in a good place for the long haul.

I think a lot of us got excited because they finally clicked in the third period on Saturday and overwhelmed UND on their home ice after making boatloads of stupid rookie mistakes all weekend. There's a lot of talent on the team, but as mentioned, it's chock full of underclassmen, so there's been lots of misdirection, lack of knowing where the teammate is/is going to be, and confusion on the ice getting adjusted to the speed of the college game, specifically the at times overwhelming speed and pressure of UND's forwards. There's a lot to like about these kids, namely some solid goaltending, good efforts, and youthful exuberance. It also might help that not a single guy on our roster (save Ruikka) has ever won anything of any merit at BU, so there's some noticeable hunger. Hopefully they can continue to gel as a group and continue to mature on the ice, and they'll have the potential to have a good year.

Re: Boston University 2012-13 Season Thread -- Up To The Task?

BU played some good hockey this weekend. While someone mentioned about getting excited over a split, what impressed me the most is that they have some skill around the net, as opposed to trying to shoot the puck through the goalie's chest all game. Goaltending is coming along also. They still need to improve in their own end as North Dakota's checking forwards gave them fits at times when trying to clear the zone, but I can forgive that more on a young team. Otherwise though freshmen blending well with upperclassmen such as Nieto and I'm cautiously optimistic about this year.

So..... the Colts-Patriots game on Sun., November 18th has been moved from 1PM to 4:30pm. Guess what, BU has a home game against UNH at 5pm that day!!

 SUNDAY GAMES

That should read Nov 18th- Hate those sunday afternoon games during football season

Also kudos to all those BU students who made it to North Dakota- They were loud and got the North Dakots fans attention

Why was the Patriots game moved?

Jack controls the (former) goal judges, refs, league office, commissioner Bertagna, and the weather. Apparently the NFL will have to move right up to the top of his list!
