Boston University 2012-13 Season Thread -- Part II

Re: Boston University 2012-13 Season Thread -- Part II

I think something that some posters are missing here (or maybe it's just the superfanboys missing it on purpose) is that there is a lot of ground between "fire Parker" and "overall recent record should be better".

That's true and there is. But you're comparing one thing that takes into account everything with the program to an on-ice record. (and obviously "fire Parker" will never happen, more like forced resignation :D )

When you put everything together, I think the lackluster results on the ice plus the arrests/assaults/rapes/suspensions/culture problems plus the fact that Parker is clearly way past his prime in many ways ('not my job to motivate them' and pretty much admitting that he is unable to relate to the players these days) would present a good body of work for grounds for forcing him to step down. There's a lot more going on and wins and losses there (and ties too).

Re: Boston University 2012-13 Season Thread -- Part II

and... why no regular season title? much more worthwhile that a conf. tourney (think how fluky those are, like when bc lost to a lowly 8 seed in a best of 3---which should NEVER HAPPEN TO PREMIER PROGRAMS!! ;)

and getting to the frozen four is worth half the points for winning the NC? are you in uhn grad skool? :D having a hot weekend (cause you can really get into the ncaa by being mediocre (bu last year) and then getting some luck.

I guess BU is just very unlucky with those fluky 2 game weekends at the Garden and regionals. I mean, obviously the chances of Bemidji and RIT making one of these things each in 15 years is as good as BU's. Right?

Re: Boston University 2012-13 Season Thread -- Part II

Eric, what I don't understand is how there are still people who think parker should be coach. How long did comley last at MSU after their title in 2007?

That is a reasonable comparison... and to answer your question with a question: How has MSU done since Comley left?

Re: Boston University 2012-13 Season Thread -- Part II

Jesus christ mookie...did you even see eric's post? Why don't you ask him. He obviously thinks there's a middle ground.

Re: Boston University 2012-13 Season Thread -- Part II

MSU blows right now but that doesn't mean they weren't right to move on from comley.

even better!!
bsu had to only beat nd, then the 'winner' of cornell-nu.

rit upset a du team that was overrated and came into the tournament on a 2 game losing streak, then got uhn (!!!) to make the detroit ff.

luck has a lot to do (with your seeds, matchups, etc).

Didn't Mookie even say there was middle ground earlier in the thread? Something like there are people who think it can be turned around or that Parker has earned the opportunity to decide when he can't?

Personally I think Brass Bonanza put it best in his post below...

Re: Boston University 2012-13 Season Thread -- Part II

Lol at only had to beat nd and downplaying RIT beating denver

I do agree that where you're placed and who you play is a factor, but not THE factor.

mookie said that they *******s leaving the team midseason shouldn't be dumped on jack.

mookie also created & copyrighted the term "jackpa" and even more bc posters better be sending him a check :D

If that's the case, why the hell is he asking me for a list of names??? He's turning into dave from st. Paul.

well golly G!! 'the' factor is scoring more goals.

we've all heard that "sometimes the best team doesn't win" :D

those 4 seeds had the benefit of playing #1 who overlooked them (perhaps), then getting relatively easy cupcakes. that, ironically, is one of bu's big setbacks in losing to uhn, being shutout by ayers in worcester in 03

Re: Boston University 2012-13 Season Thread -- Part II

ok, i'll keep a list for you.
1)eric
2)

Well, I also think it is basically moot since IIRC, Parker has said more than once that he wont be here after his current contract ends.. when is that? Not too far out I don't think.

There has to be a middle ground. Maybe five years ago I'd call you crazy for wanting him fired, but at least for me as I said earlier, I'm 100% on the fence whether I think he should continue past thus season.

Re: Boston University 2012-13 Season Thread -- Part II

There's a huge deal with tournaments, honestly. The one-and-done nature really throws a wrench into the machine, when you think about it (for example, a blown coverage on fourth and forever, Broncos). It magnifies mistakes. Now that's not to say that things don't always go differently: After all, BU posters remember the key play in Worcester. Was BU the better team than BC that year? It was rather close, looking at the stats. But BU did have the edge. Were BC sent out to the East Regional, BU might have been in a different position.

As a BU fan, the signs of success to me aren't as much the titles, but if they're among the top teams in the nation. Over the past few years, I haven't seen that happen. (And no, last year's campaign wasn't a success in my eyes). Or, to put it a different way, should we all be complaining that the Patriots haven't won a Super Bowl in how many years?, or should we at least acknowledge that they've had a **** good streak.

well that's just it then, isn't it?? when is it - 2020? (if it ends may 2013, :D)

Terrier, good post. With the pats, at least more often than not they are legitimately in the mix.
