Re: Boston University 2011-2012: Part The Sixth

Hating on JackPa is like kicking a dead dog at this point. First he kicks kids off the team for going to class, then he looks the other way when some of his favorites got smashed before a big game (ps aren't you glad you kept Trivino) and then he has a team full of rapists. What's next, a murderer? Maybe JackPa should recruit Charles Manson.

Ok, so I sent this to you in a private message so nobody can see.

A handful of us BU fans know you are really a 14 year old trying to make BC look like it produces some real idiots, but it isn't working. You said nobody would know you are just a troll, you said you could engage people in flame wars vs. being on everybody's "who cares" list and you said you wouldn't "mail it in" by just typing meaningless insults on par with a HS freshman.

We're cutting off the free sno-cones and the porn subscription, you can keep the 3 Stooges boxed set and the Justin Beiber poster...but if you can't turn this around, you have seen the last perq from us.

Lay low, take a few weeks off and change your handle to Westfield Eagle...then make a comeback...that always works.

So every time observers think a coach should be fired, he should be fired?

brass, your canine loyalty to Parker is admirable, but sorely misplaced. How much longer do we have to sit back and underachieve before you yourself think its time for a change? Should Parker be allowed to coach until he's 80? TimP may be trolling, but he's right on this one.

Maybe he doesn't think they are underachieving? He was pretty happy about that almost win in the beanpot

That's cause it's our national championship, dip****. Can't you remember your own memes?

Nice parade you guys had. I heard the mayor of Newton was there!

No, I'm just pointing out the absurdity in the comment that if some fans call for a coach to be fired, then he should be fired. I'm tiring of him myself too, though I'm not dumb enough to think BU would outright fire him. Force him into retirement if we have another poor season? I could support that.

As a topic of conversation, did you consider this season to be a poor season? (And anyone can jump in with their own comments and thoughts). Certainlly it was very poor off the ice. Was it poor on the ice? If so, was it a poor season on the ice considering the off ice situations?

Given where we are right now, with everyone we have lost, and the number of freshman coming in, what would be your thoughts on what would make this upcoming season good vs poor?

You mean that wasn't a private message and I mistakenly posted it directly in the thread? Whoops! :o

Trying not to over-think nor tie in too many factors but the on-ice aspect that bothered me the most was the penalty volume...sure that could be an extension of off ice and locker room dynamics but let's leave that at the boards...on ice i think we demonstrated a lack of focus and maturity, sometimes at the worst possible moment.

It may be my recollection vs. fact but we seemed to give up goals right after scoring or take a penalty right after tying up the game...places where we should be mentally tougher. Regardless the sport or level, we all know that there are times when you have to buckle down and avoid the penalty or be ready for the other team to make a push.

Of course, BU has always been streaky...consistency, on or off ice, is not our middle name, it isn't our maiden name, heck it isn't even in our dictionary but that is just part of the DNA, so I don't think that merits rehashing.

I don't think it's your recollection (if it is, I had the same recollection)... :) Exhibit A was the last game of the year...

Re: Boston University 2011-2012: Part The Sixth

Is anyone surprised Justin Courtnall didn't get it? After all, he was an assistant last season. He seemed to play hard, in the times I saw him.

Do you recall how many times this season Courtnall went out of control on the ice and cost the team 5 min majors for attempted injury to other players? This includes the mess in Minny where he jumped and hit a Gopher player in the head with his elbow, got a 5 min major and was tossed out. On the ensuing PP, Gophers scored and never looked back. He may be a hustling high energy player and I like him in that role, I don't think he is "A" material much less THE "C".

I do recall some instances, that you referenced. Was he like that his sophomore year? Not sure why he got the "A" last year if acted like that as a sophomore.

So who does get the "A's" next year? Ross Gaudet? Ben Rosen? Sean Escobedo?

Well for starters, Gaudet is not coming back. He is graduating. I like him a lot. It's too bad. But for returners that you mentioned I would give it first to Rosen as he has showed hustle, maturity (remember when he volunteered to sit out the US18 game so the team could try other guys at center?). That's leadership and team first thinking. Good recap article in the Freep about that. He has good skills, made a tough transition from d to center and did really well.

I like Escobedo next as a balls out player who will do anything to win. He has a tendency to take a lot of "dumb" penalties tho and a bit like Courtnall, sometimes can't control himself. The guys say hes a good teammate and a bit of a joker. I would say hes not the best guy for the players to take seriously. Thinking about it, yeah I'd give a "A" to Rosen. I think he earned and deserves it and would handle the responsibilities well. That's my two cents worth.

Are we assuming that Courtnall is not getting one of the "A's" for next season? Or only picking one more?

I would assume that Courtnall will keep his A regardless of his on ice tendencies. So I think the team is looking for only 1 A. I could be wrong tho. Captaincy is supposed to be for leadership, not just because a player is the top scorers, most popular or such. I think Megan is a good C choice, Courtnall by default and Rosen A's.
