Re: Boston University 2010-11 Part III - Is That So Much To Ask?

Oh, and we really need to stop wearing the fourth jerseys. I have no idea why he had them wear them on Saturday (FL - do you know?). As soon as I saw the team skating around in warmups in them I knew we were going to lose. Those jerseys have not been kind to us this season. They wore out their luck in April 2009.

They wear one jersey until they don't win and then switch to the other. They switched to the alternates for the Saturday game against UVM because they only tied in the regular whites Friday night. Won Saturday, so they wore the alternate whites again vs. NU. I'll bet the blog they come out in the regular whites tomorrow. I don't know when they started doing this superstitious jersey thing, but it's definitely been going on, tried and true, for the last three seasons at least.

Well one of them back is good, thought hopefully Warsofsky's actually healthy enough and not coming back quickly to fill Noonan's spot.

There is no way Parker or the trainer rush this guy back with a serious injury like a concussion. This is great news though. It avoids Rosen having to move to D right when he is playing so well on that 4th line with Courtnall and Gilroy/Santana

agreed about rosen, he's seemed to fill into the 4th line center role well. although you can't really discredit the idea that Warsofsky got rushed back. By all accounts the concussion was a minor one, you have to think that at least Warsofksy was pushing to get back in the line up with Noonan sitting out the first game.

p.s. you forgot the Bright Center in your arena list pereira

haha thanks and with all the concussion stuff now I bet he has been cleared to go. I just saw him on the street and he looked perfectly fine haha obviously walking down the street is different than taking a shot from 6'7" Oleksiak. Also since it looks like Blaise MacDonald is gone from Lowell anyone think he will be back on the BU staff anytime in the future? Or would he be more likely to land a job at a smaller job where he had success like he did at Niagra?

Re: Boston University 2010-11 Part III - Is That So Much To Ask?

So, last November when I was in New York for RHH, I spent that Friday afternoon with my niece in line in Times Square to get tickets to a Broadway show. We waited in line for about 2 hours. It was cold. It was tiring. I finally get up to the window to ask if there were any available tickets for Mamma Mia. The guy sees my hockey jacket.

Ticket Guy: You go to BU?
Me: Yes, well, I went to BU.
Ticket Guy: You know Dennis Woolf?
Me: Yeah, he was the basketball coach, he's not there any more.
Ticket Guy: Yeah, well, it wasn't his fault.
Me: Um, well, the new guy is doing OK.
Ticket Guy: Oh really? How?
Me: They just beat Indiana!
Ticket Guy: Yeah, well, it wasn't Woolf's fault.
Me: Maybe if Woolf could beat a team like Stony Brook to get to the NCAAs he might still be there.
Ticket Guy: *glare* What tickets do you need?

How random was that?

Bizarre! It's like the old guy in "The Ghost Writer." "No way that guy drowned. No way!" Was it Eli Wallach? :)

That sounds about right... and since I dont go to many away games anymore... do they do the same with (or do they even wear anymore) the alternate away jersey?

Edit: I should know this from some TV games and from the limited number of away games I go to... but I can't seem to picture it right now.

Edit Edit: I just noticed this is post# 888... pretty cool...:D

wasn't the scoreboard reading, "with a win tonight the terriers will sweep the season series from the huskies" :D

You know I stopped reading the scoreboard because of those statements. :)

Yeah, they do the same for road games with the regular reds and alternate reds.

Re: Boston University 2010-11 Part III - Is That So Much To Ask?

I just watched the Parker interview. Very interesting. I do like how candid he is.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned that he isn't going to seek a new contract for the 2016 season. End date! :)

His take on "today's" players will make a good off-season discussion. (You know, Sunday night. ;))

BU Hockey: Truth

It was super interesting... and I agree... gotta love how candid he is.

Now that I think about it, it is surprising nobody has mentioned his comment about his contract through 2015... but who knows what might change between now and then.

Off season? Not starting Sunday  ... we have another week at least.

In the 08-09 Quarterfinals BU won game 1 in the Alts, showed up in the regular ones in game 2 and lost, then switched back to the Alternates for the rest of the playoff run. Why I remember this, I have no idea.

I think they were doing it even before then, though, because I remember one of my friends pointing it out to me at a game and I wasn't at that Maine series, so it couldn't have been then. And they obviously didn't lose or switch after that.

And now that I think of it they wore the normals for the regular season finale and won, before switching to the alternates for game 1 of the playoffs.

I don't doubt they do it now/did it back then, Parker is extremely superstitious, and that's the best rationale I've heard for the jersey switching. But the permutations at the beginning of those playoffs are confusing none the less.

Actually No, last season the team only wore the regular road jerseys once after RHH (at Providence), and I am positive they did not go perfect on the road December through March besides that one loss. (I need a life:D)

Huh. I just went back through the live blogs/slideshows and it appears you're right. I could've sworn they had been consistent to a tee when it came to this. I still think it's definitely some sort of trend and not just a coincidence I've noticed, but maybe they're not as steadfast as I had thought. Or maybe they just didn't feel like taking those RHH patches off the regular reds last year. :D

Re: Boston University 2010-11 Part III - Is That So Much To Ask?

A somewhat off topic aside, at work today I got to work with some taped interviews of people who received grants from the Travis Roy Foundation, those who suffer from similar conditions as Travis. It was really nice to see one place the money the foundation raises is put towards, helping people fund repairs to their home so they can return home and continue with their lives, their passions, and their jobs. Really, really good stuff, and all recipients had nothing but the highest of praise for Travis and the foundation as a whole.

Does anyone remember them wearing the alternate reds at home other than the opening night at Agganis? I think thats a neat twist... UNH wears the darks at home once or twice a year I think.
