When is the first official day of practice? We have an exibition a week from tomorrow, so I am guessing that practice begins Sunday or Monday. Correct?

It's okay, we'll give you this geography lesson for free if SteveF will teach us about the Boston border through BC again.

and if you are a good girl, i'll even show you where BU is in brookline.

NCAA official 1st day is Friday, October 1st. But coaches are allowed 120 minutes of practice time per week. So in theory, they could practice 4 days this week....40 minutes each day on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and the official Friday practice.

Should be ready for exibition games by the weekend. Same program is probably being used by most teams this week.

According to Kevin Paul Dupont's notebook in today's Globe, in the event that Parker has to take a night off this season, Bavis would take over head coaching duties and former assistant Pertti Hasanen would jump on board as an assistant.

Aww how generous. Have you registered?

Candy,
That's why Steve and Nicky spend so much time on this site. They aren't allowed within 1,000 feet of schools so this is the closest they get to the boys they love.

I'm sorry. I definitely was out of town during the Pertti Hasanen years. Who is he? What was his former position at BU? What has he been doing during the years leading up to his return? And finally, better that JP take a night (or two) off during the season rather than his team.

Yeah, he's also off my radar, so perhaps some of the older folks can chime in. According to hockeydb, he was an assistant at BU in 89-90 and then again from 96-98. He was also an assistant at Lowell in 87-88 and 00-01. Other tidbits I've been able to gather: He founded Hasanen Power Wear, a line of weighted training gear that's used by many college and pro teams. He was also a scout for the LA Kings at one point.

As of yesterday, the BU website did not list him as an assistant. FL, do you know what his status is?

It's exactly what Dupont said in that notebook- he'll jump on board if Parker has to miss any time. There hasn't been anything official yet, though, so that's why he's not listed anywhere.

As I recall, he introduced the dreaded "Russian circuit" to the BU training regimen. I don't know if it's still a part of the training program.
