Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread Part the One

From the perspective inside the arena it was very hard to tell what was going on with any of the penalties (Mostly because of barely-competent or incompetent scoreboard managing). Though I guess you have to give them some kind of break, unless I'm mistaken BU and Mack were both at one time serving four penalties at the same time...

i've been at rinks where they tack on the time to the guy in the box to make it easy to understand... (0:47 becomes "2:27", for example - pittsburgh's civic arena used to do that) last night i had to hear benny say, "you come out at 4:17!" to a mc skater instead.

it was weird though that esco was allowed to come out at the first whistle in the 3rd and he played a shift while his number and time were still on the clock.

When was the last time this team scored an even strength goal?

Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread Part the One

Former Terrier defenseman Phil vonStefenelli was at the game last night. When BU had 4 d-men in the box, I wanted to ask him if he could suit up for a period and help his alma mater out.

That was just bad bad bad. Nothing went right. Cannot clear a puck to save their lives. Misfires. Not winning faceoffs while on a powerplay. It was painful. And then the frustration started to set in. It wasn't pretty to watch. I'm not sure what the issue is.

I heard that Bonino is definitely playing tonight. I worry about that because I have a feeling this game will be more chippy and I don't want him to hurt himself more. We may also see Rollie in net tonight.

Sorry if I missed this being said before, but there is a doubleheader at Agganis today. The women are allowed to play under lights :-) at Agganis today at 2 pm vs. Providence. Come and make a day of it.

Watching them self-destruct last night was far worse than watching them play their tails off but w/o any puck luck (like last Friday). I think there are multiple issues right now that the team needs to work through. I think they're about to turn the corner w/ overcoming the injury bug, but I'm more concerned about guys who were counted on to step up and haven't done so, along with overcoming the mental aspects of this early-season slide.

Has a team ever gone from 30 wins to 30 losses?

(I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'...)

Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread Part the One

we'll trade you guys our record this year for yours... if we can have 50 seconds back from last season :(

Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread Part the One

Can I pick which 50? (I'm thinking somewhere middle of the 3rd) :p

Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread Part the One

Boys should be ready to play then with the changes. Just can't let themselves be discouraged if for some reason they don't have 4 first period goals. Be confident. Work to win the little battles. Back up your linemates. Long season (I mean this one in a good way ;))

Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread Part the One

chiasson's chin is bruised and cut up. they're playing it safe and sitting him tonight. he was practicing in the 'handicap jersey' today.

Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread Part the One

I'm ecstatic to hear Rollheiser is playing. I'd be fine with putting Rhett in net. Even Parker. He would do more good for the team standing in front of the net in a senile stupor than he does standing behind the bench in said condition.

Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread Part the One

nice to see BU show up to play tonight. it was great to finally see rollie. there are still areas that need improvement, but a win is a win and 3-6 is much nicer than 2-7.

they played the first period well. if this was a fight, the first would have been 10-8 BU (if not stopped). but the fight continued and i'd have to give the 2nd and 3rd rounds to MC 10-9 each.

but you are right... win is a win.

3 things tonight (in order as they happened)...

**Vincent has to get off the top two lines. he is now a liability there. his goal scoring occurs when the puck is loose in the crease and he can skate in and tap it across. that's it. ZCohen hits a post in the 3rd. rebound across the ice right to Vincent off the lw circle. wait.. 1-one thousand, 2-one thousand. shoot. of course he misses the side of a barn.. but over and over it's the same result. HE.CAN.NOT.PULL.THE.TRIGGER. that's what his job requires. if he can't do it, don't put a kid in a situation where he is destined to fail.
i am not questioning his drive out there. he works hard and kills penalties. love the effort. probably nice to babies and dogs. but sending him out there game after game to stand 8 feet from the net on the PP and one time passes is a dead end loser. (there was another moment in the 1st on the PP when he couldn't wait long enough.. but whatever. i have been mentioning it for over 13 months now.)

**Colby is hillarious. what a WLB! the MC kid pulls his stick out and it gets thrown along the near boards toward the BU bench on a 3x5 PK... he turns and cries to the ref.. THEN.ACTUALLY.SKATES.TO.FETCH.THE.STICK.WHILE.MC.HAS.CONTROL
AND.LETS.THEM.SCORE.FROM.IN.FRONT..... WHILE OF COURSE DOWN TWO MEN!!!
this is insane!!!! where does this come from?!? this lack of thought on the consequence of one's actions is baffling. and the 'whiny'-ness?? we've seen his tough side. he doesn't back down. not last night. we've all seen the youtube of him pounding big nick petrecki while in the ushl... but my lord already.

**Bavo and JP need to get their heads out of their *****es. ZCohen breaks a strap on his helmet and goes off... we need a fifth skater.. waiting...waiting... both Bavo and JP are looking out there. no telling one guy to jump. no shift change (i mean, why would they.. Nick is on the ice.. the only guy who has come close to winning a draw outside of Megan last night in the 1st and 2nd periods). just Zach standing there looking at his helmet getting fixed, then looking at his coaches... almost 20 seconds. FINALLY we decide to send out a whole new line ( ). well, no. sorry. but MC has changed. you had your turn. confusion. ref has to allow one out. but no, Corey came first. we want CrisCo... no, Corey stays... of course then... NICK.GETS.THE.BOOT.AND.COREY.LOSES.THE.DRAW... PP shortly over, never again getting a chance to set up. falls to Rollie to save their ***** with an incredible flurry later on.

my head hurts from watching. ugh. :(

let's see KM rebound nicely up at Lake Whitt friday, then Rollie can win at home saturday and our boys will only be ONE game under .500 with the chance to even it up v. Harvard 'fore turkey time.:p

Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread Part the One

.... and with Eric's 4 minor penalties tonight (only 11 to go ;) ), i'll go first and guess the time we see a new all time BU record will be at the 4minute mark of the 2nd period in the Bright Center on the 24th.

the Crimson fans will look on in wonderment as the 70 or so of us there stand and applaud the full two minutes (or at least the first ONE that ties, then sets the record :p :D :p )
