Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread Part the One

This should help generate some chatter and get us off the second page:
Chiasson injured in practice, Warsofsky out for Friday

Can things honestly get any worse for us? Should Millan play without pads? Should Gryba center the 1st line? Should Parker lace up again and get into the line up?

Honestly, this team cannot catch a break. Listen up, Fate, I expect to be rewarded ten-fold come February/March.

Not surprised about Warso he was nowhere near 100% on the ice Sunday, there were times when it was noticeable that he did not want to open up his legs unless he completely had to. It was left in David's hands to decide if he could play and few players ever choose to sit. Better to play it safe in November than fully tear the muscle.

Unless Chiasson was concussed I wouldn't expect a "hit to the chin" to cause him to miss the weekend, so that's what I'd guess happened.

I would not be surprised at all if it's a concussion or a broken jaw. We talked to Parker literally 10 minutes after it happened, so I don't think anyone knew anything at that point, but it was a hard freaking hit and I don't think he would've been down for as long as he was if it was just a cut.

It wasn't a "hit to the chin." It was a Gryba to the chin. He's lucky to be alive. Impressive restraint, Eric.

It's a terrible picture (the camera being a cell phone and all) but here goes:

any word on how injured warso is and a ballpark timetable? it seems that playing sunday didn't help his recovery much.

Notebook

slurpees- Warsofsky's more or less day-to-day. He practiced Tuesday, but not Wednesday. He's out for Friday, but could be back Saturday. I talked to him during practice and he said he was hoping to play both games this weekend, but Parker shot that idea down after practice.

Can Gryba stop injuring his own teammates please? Seriously, the smashing has to be brought to a minimum, especially when it's against HIS OWN TEAM.
stopping the Gryba Smash is like stopping opposing fans from saying "Sucks to BU" ... ain't gonna happen

How about the Gryba sit? I mean seriously, between the penalties and this, I'm pretty ticked off at him right about now.

With Warsofsky out and the serious lack of offense, I doubt the team could afford to sit a veteran defenseman.

I'm extremely cautious about sitting players for hits in practice, it can send the message to not treat practice seriously that can result in extremely lackadaisical practices that don't prepare you for the game. Of course there are exceptions but I would have to see the specific play in order to suggest it may be one. There is a fine line, and Gryba may have crossed it, but benching him because of it sends a message to everyone that could easily result in more harm than good.
