Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread II: Still got a pulse, time for CPR

Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread II: Still got a pulse, time for CPR

yeah... I fail to see how that is relevant to the post you quoted. I said Bennett is better right now than either of our goalies. We'd have a better record if he was here. I also said that two seasons ago, he kept the puck out of the net more frequently with a worse defense than either goalie this year. Like I said, I'm glad he's gone because of Millan's performance last year. But this year, right now, we'd be better off with him.

I quoted that post because I could not imagine anyone who actually saw him play, thinking he would be a better alternative than what we have now....

Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread II: Still got a pulse, time for CPR

I stand corrected. Wasn't aware of that. For what my now not-so-credible opinion is worth, I haven't seen much in the way of offensive skill out of him in games or in practice.

Otherwise, consider me embarrassed... :(

you need not apologize, the BCHL is a terribly thin league, with few top prospects coming out of there over the years. kyle turris being the obvious exception. every now and then they spit out a very good college player (ryan duncan), but most come out as middle of the pack.

and with that said those numbers dont particularly stand out anyway.

what you should be embarrassed about is using the nicknames shatty, straity, and scooby as if the players were your 5 year old sons or you were their coach. how depressing is it when a player's name already ends in y? that totally ruins the nickname potential. I wish Parker would consider these things more in recruiting.

Straity? Now that just doesn't make any sense.

And we find ways. Connolly becomes ChrisCo, etc. The real question is, what do you do about a name like Parker Milner? General Mills? Hmm... Not as easy as Schneids or Mooooooooose.

Keep in mind the ages of these guys. Turris scored a boatload of pts (72) I think as a 15 year old and then an obscenely absurd amount of pts (121) as a 16 year old. Courtnall's two good seasons were as an 18 and 19 year old player (51 and 63). As a 17 year old, Courtnall only netted 14 pts in 53 games!

It's kind of like expecting this Gilroy to score a lot of goals at BU because he lit up the EJHL. Only he was playing in the league as a 20 year old. It makes a big difference.

Hey, I take credit for "Fidel" for the Nicastro kid and nothing else. However, I did mention awhile back that Parker should have recruited a kid named Gay to play on the team with Strait. Then we could all laugh when Jim Prior announced, "and that's Strait from Gay on that score" over the PA system after a goal.

Also for the record, rover, I definitely approve of Fidel Nicastro. I really do laugh every time I read that.

So what's the story with "Lee" Trivino? Do we have to wait until he leaves BU to call him a bust yet? Very disappointed with him!!

Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread II: Still got a pulse, time for CPR

We call him Parker Milner.

The question was rhetorical (as would have been obvious had you not deleted the original part of the quote) because your answer was the only plausible one. Still, Milner is a much less unwieldy name than something like Shattenkirk which becomes very burdensome. 'Shatty' is not a creative nickname by any means, but the media and fans honor locker room nicknames in the pros, I don't see why we shouldn't use them here other than to avoid the painful vicarious embarrassment felt by BC fans.

I know, I was just trying to be a little funny. You're thinking too hard! :p

My friends and I are trying to come up with an easy way to distinguish between Joe and Steve Whitney. I'm a fan of using first names only in *rare* instances, typically when the person is amazing. See: John, Paul, George, Ringo, Elvis... Joe and Steve aren't quite there yet.

We tried calling one "Whit" and one "Whitney," but it wasn't really as clear as we'd like. Personally I like calling Joe "Whit" and Steve "Little Whit."

It works.

ChrisCo's also pretty good :p

Mostly just a result of working the blog, actually. Trying to give some semblance of play-by-play gets tough when you have to type out Shattenkirk, Warsofsky, Rollheiser, etc. My typing skills are decent, but Shatty, Warso and Rollie roll off the fingers much quicker and leave less room for potential typos that I have to go back and fix.

Hey, where is Jofa, anyway? That guy is great and never comes around anymore.

Anything for speed, or that has become commonly recognized is fine. Just don't throw in a "<3" anywhere.
