Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread II: Still got a pulse, time for CPR

did this pop out of nowhere or was it planned? if so, its the best in season time to do it

It was planned. Not sure of an exact timetable but sounded like its been planned for a while from what Parker said.

Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread II: Still got a pulse, time for CPR

Also, for what it's worth, Parker referred to the 2007-08 team as a "talented" squad with "pathetic" goaltending, so you can at least guess where he'd fall in with this whole Brett Bennett discussion.

that team was very deep with talented forwards. not as much on defense. and then even less behind that.

IIRC, we were a top 5 scoring team in the nation that year, but barely had a .500 record - that tells you how good the defense/goaltending was. put an average goaltender on that team and were in the ncaa tournament.

i recall telling scarlet at umass one night after another easy goal went in that if we had Tapper in the cage we'd be sitting at 25 wins, minimum.

Mookie, I think the passage of time is playing tricks on your memory. At best, Tapper was marginally better than Bennett. He wouldn't be a significant upgrade. When it comes to flopping around liked a beached cod, Tapper could give BB a serious run for his money.

A cardboard cutout probably could have stopped more goals, but at the moment, I'm more concerned about this team and its goaltending.

Millan looked fantastic at the beginning of the BC game, but as soon as the first BC goal went in, he looked visibly frustrated and upset, which is something that almost never happened last year. What happened to the calm, collected goalie?

In case it slipped by without notice, our good friend Jason Tapp is the first-year goal coach for Union. (Don't look now, but the Dutchmen are quite good this year! Who knew? Those who can, do ... )

#97 was sent down to Hartford. Ranger fans: What happened?

Not a Rangers fan, but just from reading a few articles/blogs about it, it sounds like 1) No one really understands this move, and no one's really too happy about it, and 2) Most are guessing it's more for salary cap reasons than because of his play.

Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread II: Still got a pulse, time for CPR

Not a Rangers fan either, but it did come as a surprise to most. Didn't see any highlights of their recent game against Chicago, but apparently Gilroy made a mistake on one of the goals...

Speculation that this is Tortorella sending a message.

Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread II: Still got a pulse, time for CPR

His defensive play definitely dropped off, but so did the rest of the team's. I think Torts needed to send a message and make a change, and Gilroy has stopped being as excellent as he was earlier in the season, so he was a good choice.

I think it will help him to get his confidence back up and get him out of the hell that I imagine the Rangers' locker room and practice is at the moment.

On the plus side, selfishly, since I live and work in CT and can't make it to the BU game tonight, I'm going to the Hartford game to see him play.

Your guy Dustin Byfuglien made him look like an AHLer.
