I would wait for another couple wins before claiming that we have fixed what ails us.

To be fair, the players and Parker weren't saying anything to that point, but the writer was making me knock on wood with the captions:

"Defending champion Terriers using second half to rebound from major slump"

and

"Nick Bonino (above), along with his fellow assistant captain Eric Gryba and captain Kevin Shattenkrik, will play a big role in a BU turnaround."

I heard a rumor that John McCarthy got called up to the San Jose. Can anyone see if that's true or not? There is nothing on San Jose's site.

San Jose has distributed no press release to that effect.

Would be something if McCarthy were in the NHL and Wilson wasn't :D

I heartily agree Defkit. Tomorrow will tell a lot.

Face it, since coming back from the holidays U Mass may be the only team in HE in more disarray than what we saw with the terriers through the first half. They were awful last Saturday and were awful in the tournament they played to start the new year.

Saturday was a good start and the stats and scoreboard look good. Tomorrow, when they face their biggest rival on the biggest possible stage for a regular season game we will see how they fare against a fast, talented, agressive team that will force them to play their best to stay in the game.

It will be a good sign if the backchecking looks as effectivde as against U Mass, the defense continues to avoid big mistakes and Millan makes the big save when they need it and gives up no junk.

Here's hoping to the best for tomorrow as it should be the best indication possible of what should be expected from this team the rest of the season.

Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread II: Still got a pulse, time for CPR

i'm definitely a big warsofsky fan (see here), and i was very surprised to see such a dramatic difference in his style of play at the WJC. he must bring some crazy intangibles to the table if they took a very offensive defensemen and said 'stay in your own end' without the blink of an eye.

i think most comments hit the nail on the head in regards to the team having too many other talented offensive d-men; i would also add that it probably had a lot to do with the talent level on the other teams restricting warsofsky's 'blank check' ability to free lance around the ice like he can afford to do in HE play. its good to see he can play both ways; in my limited viewings, i didnt notice that kind of range from gilroy until his senior year.

as for how DW played; i watched the online streams which were rather choppy - so i dont have much comment other than you cant argue with overall results. defensively the whole unit was impressive, sacrificing their body time and time again. offensively, I thought as a whole the d-men werent too involved in transition other than on the initial breakout and then obviously on the powerplay.

i realize its naive to use such a recent example, but what we have in this thread is classic 'brian yandle' syndrome - where certain people evaluate a defensemen on how much he scores. these same people are the types that read the box scores and judge the best defensive forwards as the ones who don't score!

You barely heard Warsofsky's name. When you play a defensive defensemen role in a tourney against some of the best Canada has to offer in your age group and you barely hear your name mentioned by the announcers? That's a good job out of you.

Heard he is on a plane. Do not know for sure but that is the story. Hope it is true.

What is this guy's deal with Chiasson? They have to be pretty good friends for him to have already written two articles focused on him and another that quotes him. This isn't Chiasson's hometown paper; it's freaking ESPN. Plus, he's either working around BU athletics or he's getting preferential treatment, because we're not even allowed to talk to freshmen yet.

I realize this post could come across as me being jealous, but I just think this guy's a little too obsessed with a second-line freshman on an eighth-place team.

I believe he was responding to this:

Hmm... interesting.

Hey mookie, can you convince Millan to wear black pads so he can pretend he didn't scored on like Johnson did tonight?
