Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread II: Still got a pulse, time for CPR

Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread II: Still got a pulse, time for CPR

he shouldnt even have been there.

once again, USA hockey has to pay lip service to the USNTDP, despite some of the busts that come out of there. by doing that, they omit invites to deserving people that should make the team and it just leads to more tournament failures for us.

He played well at the August camp. I'm not angry and thinking this was a huge going to backfire move the way I felt when Ben Smith wasn't chosen followed by Nick Petrecki (an even bigger mistake as some nasty would have been very nice), but I am disappointed for him (not in him).

I saw his stat line, but how did Yip play, to anyone who actually watched the game? Was he able to keep up?

There's some talk on the eLynah website of Cornell playing Northeastern next yr at MSG and a BU game at Lynah. Anyone hear about the BU part of this rumor?

Cornell-NU at MSG would be... interesting. I think NU students would make the trip because they'd probably get buses again like they did for Grand Rapids last year, but NU doesn't have a big alumni base in the tri-state area (at least not that I'm aware of). I guess Cornell figures they can pick up the slack and fill MSG themselves, which they probably can.

As for BU going to Lynah, I wouldn't be surprised. The original plan was to have games at Lynah and Agganis between MSG visits, so maybe that plan is back on. I'd imagine Cornell would be repaying the trip because Parker almost never makes road trips without getting a home game in return.

On a personal note, I would be ****ing pumped if BU went to Lynah next year. That's a rink I would love to visit, and next year might be the last year I can really justify long road trips.

Well, he's done just that...they played 2 games in '01 at Lynah and Cornell still hasn't technically repaid them. That's why I'd be surprised if Parker would go back there for another game or two before getting a few at Agganis. As I recall from being there in '01, he wasn't too happy with the official (no surprise) or the fans.

That being said, if it does happen, I'd be stoked to get back there for my first game in a long time. Tickets would be near impossible to get/very pricey

One of the few times that knowing Gene (Cornell ticket czar) would be helpful, normally he's just a pain in everyone's butt. I'm going back to campus in January for the NoDak games and would certainly go back for a BU game.

Did anybody else read the coach's mid year assessment in his FoH letter that arrived yesterday??? Yikes!

Nope I missed it. I assume he didn't throw specific players under the bus since that wasn't in front of media (Scott Weighart doesn't count). But I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't shoulder any blame and blamed the kids in general.

Throw a dog a bone here, rover.

Didn't make it to my house yet....

Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread II: Still got a pulse, time for CPR

Let me guess, did it go something like this:

Dear Friend of BU Hockey,

We suck.

sincerely,

Jack Parker

Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread II: Still got a pulse, time for CPR

He blasted the entire team, and gave himself an F for coaching. He graded the defense a D, the goaltending a D, the power play a B maybe, and the offense an F I believe. He said they were playing too soft and weren't gritty enough. He also called out Cohen, Waforsky and Shatty (and Millan, although not by name) as not living up to last year's play. He also called himself out for being way too lax on cracking down on these guys as they rested on last year's championship. He blasted the lack of effort, too cute passing, defensive givaways, hanging the goalie out to dry. Its a full two page rant!

I have to say, I laughed my head off at the breakfast table this morning. Given how its not a polished piece with fancy wording, but rather it looks like something he wrote himself the night after a game and hit "send" without sitting on it overnight I think its straight from him. Either way, it is the single greatest piece of literature I've received from that school in 20 years of being associated with it except for my diploma and my scholarship award letter. Go Coach! His diagnosis of the problem is 100% accurate. Whether he can cure it remains to be seen....

I'm shocked he took some blame himself. Only the 2nd time I can remember ever seeing it (cue post from Rogie with 3 examples) in the past decade.

I'm sure the parents of the players were thrilled to see that among the Christmas cards in the mail.

One last thing, if I don't make it back between now and Thursday you all have a SAFE and happy holiday. Especially my buddies like rover, Babs, Gentry, scarlet, etc.

So basically he wasted two pieces of paper when my suggestion would have sufficed.

:p
