Nice to see the Hockey East logo on the dashers as well. Hopefully that will be visible to the national television audience.

You think those watching during the NHL Winter Classic game will have any idea what that means? :p

Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread II: Still got a pulse, time for CPR

I believe the time change was made before Legends tickets even went on sale, so that shouldn't have been an issue.

the schedule magnets passed out back when we were looking forward to the season had 4p as the start time.

Especially since they're on NHL Network.

This is true. They'll squeeze it in between all the advertisements. Keep in mind that whenever the NHL is on NBC, they try to advertise everything else NBC though.

Yip recalled from Lake Erie to Colorado.

Yip get a start tonight in Columbus. http://www.denverpost.com/headlines/ci_14030078

Denver Post article mentions his junior year suspension, but makes the episode sound worse than it was. Wasn't it just a matter of having a drink at a restaurant after the funeral of a teammate's grandmother?

That's exactly what happened.

funny, some UMass-Lowell fan changed the Hockey East page on Wikipedia to claim that Lowell, not BU, won the HE title in '09. the person also changed the BU hockey Wikipedia page complaining about the "no-goal" call. I had to change the pages back to their correct states. guess they're still bitter?

:D :D :D

I'm sure this had nothing to do with the Ice is Life guys. They're way above such petty practices. :D

The US U20/UND game is televised tonight if you have the extra sports channels on FCSC (for me that is 263) - direct tv I think is 617. Otherwise you can watch tomorrow on NHL Network.

Vinny Saponari - 27 is listed as being on a line with Chris Kreider and Tyler Johnson. Dave Warsofsky - 5 is listed on the last pairing with Max Nicastro - 3.

Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread II: Still got a pulse, time for CPR

Warsofsky and Nicastro playing a decent game - Warsofsky not looking like he stands out though, playing much more shut-down than his usual game. Nicastro has thrown a couple of great hits.

Have not yet noticed Saponari on the ice at all. I'm sure he has been, I just haven't noticed him.

And it looks like Yip has played five minutes through two periods in his NHL debut and already taken a penalty.

Morning Skate is consistently one of the best hockey blogs, but this post has a few glaring negatives: referring to BU simply as "Boston," spelling the first legendary coaches of the schools' names' "Kelly" instead of "Kelley," and--this will surprise John Muse--reporting that Tim Kelleher led BC to the NC two years ago.

Isn't that what it says on our jerseys though? :D

Pretty bad error though regarding Muse....

All in all a great article.

I agree about Warsofsky not standing out quite as much as he usually does, mostly because he didn't seem to be leading or jumping into the rush that much. He was very good defensively, though, and he made some great breakout passes. He also saw some PP time. This defensive corps is very deep, but I'd have to think he's a lock to make the team.

Saponari was out there pretty regularly with his listed linemates of Kreider and Johnson from what I could tell, but I only heard his name called maybe three or four times. Kreider's two goals came on the PP, which Saponari did not play on. I don't think Saponari had a shot on goal, and I can't really think of any plays that stood out, good or bad. I kept looking for him to win 1-on-1 battles in the offensive zone and battle in the corners, but I just didn't see it. Have to chalk that up as a subpar performance.

Nicastro was certainly very physical, which had to make a good impression on the coaches, but he also had a few turnovers (I can recall two bad breakout passes and one miscommunication behind the net). Overall, though, I'd say he played a solid game. Did a pretty good job of keeping guys in front of him.

I'd have to think that Saponari and Nicastro are both on the bubble right now, and I'd probably lean toward both being cut. Nicastro certainly stood out more, but this team is ridiculously deep on defense. They had eight d-men dressed tonight, and whether or not Nicastro was one of the top six or seven is debatable. Also, John Carlson, who's already played three NHL games, wasn't even dressed. Saponari was listed as being on the third line, but some of the US's top forwards (Morin, Walker, Bourque) weren't dressed tonight. I certainly wouldn't be overly surprised if either Nicastro or Saponari, or both, made the team, but I'm not sure they will.

The biggest surprise there is that ULowell has fans. What a lame program that every 5 years or so has a better then .500 team. A hole of a school and surrounding area a total embarassment to HE. I would love to see UConn and Quinnipiac replace those 2 Merrimack Valley hell holes in the league with rosters full of 22 year old goons form Western Canada.
