Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread II: Still got a pulse, time for CPR

Quality television tonight has enlightened me to my thoughts on this season.

I'm a sad panda.

He was a better goalie with one big difference. In the biggest game of his career, Noble played well. On the flip side, Larocque picked the worst possible time to have the worst game of his career (the 97 championship). :(

jack's fault??

no, lemme guess. george bush's fault....;)

:p

Well that'd be because that was an artist rendering from 6 months ago. But at least it was posted on a good date.:D (Scroll down a bunch for the pic)

Here it is being built with the goals close to first and third.

So why exactly do the construction workers need to have the jumbotron on, but can't use the stadium lights at all? Seems it would make a lot more sense to at least give them some overhead lighting...

Very cool video, though.

I was wondering that same thing. There are a couple days in here were it doesn't looks like they really did a full day's work, but it is construction in Boston. ;)

I was wondering what the Big Dig workers were up to these days...can't we hire them out to Newton or New York or something?

So, why did they decide to go first to third instead of home to second. It looks like there'd be twice as many "good" seats the other way.

Oh and re: Rover's lengthy post about Parker's deficiencies, not sure how you can say the win over Mich in '97 had nothing to do with strategy. They had a specific game plan to go out and be as physical as possible to take Mich off their game. Obviously, the players had to execute, but that sounds an awful lot like strategy to me.

Probably better for tv with the press box now at center ice.

Yeah, this must be the reason. Finding a center ice spot for the camera would be awkward in Fenway the other way, and the commentators would have to be in regular seats.

The "its time for Parker to go" bandwagon will exist on here forever unless we win the national chapionship every year. I've never been on that (and I've made that known all along)... but that is something that both sides politely agree to disagree on.

The goal of every season, for a program with the advantages BU has, is to win the championship. Ask Bill Belichick if he's satisfied with 18-1 from a few years ago, and I don't think he'd say how great it was to gameplan the AFC championship victory that year.

While Parker did do a great job beating Michigan, the bottom line is the team blew yet another national championship the next game, a game they should have won. Once again, they didn't bring the same effort and poise as their opponents and lost. He has to take blame for that. Not all the blame (Larocque was pretty bad), but a good deal of it. Getting your players prepared for big contests is one of the most critical jobs of the coach. Losing that game was a choke job, plain and simple.
