Boston College Women's Hockey - 2012-2013 Season Thread

Meh, first game shakiness. They'll get it firmed up.
I predicted that BC was going to lose this one, they didn't have an exphidition game, and it was only there second time playing in conte.
There were a few positives to pull from this game like that fact that skarupa and trivigno are very good together and could be the next carpenter and field duo, Boyles played a very strong game and I expect for her to have a strong season. From looking at that game I think the next time BC plays BU
The results will be closer. There defense is very good those freshman D are very good , I cant wait to see what happens at the heights this year.

I thought BC carried the play for the last 3/4 of the game really, save for BU's 3 odd-man rushes that they converted on.

And Schaus was ridiculous.
She allowed three goals on 27 shots to a college team. I hope that if she winds up playing against Canada in an Olympic Gold Medal game that she has a higher level of ridiculous to reach.:(

That doesn't tell the whole story. Nothing at all she could do on those goals. Meanwhile while BC had stretches where they were just peppering her she was an animal.

BC matched up quite well with the Blades -- which I thought would happen. It wasn't until the end of the game that the talent really started to wear BC down.

The tying goal was nuts, did anyone see it? A little flip-in from the red line that bounced right in front of Miller and rolled in over her shoulder.

bceagles11 I agree with you that this will be one of the best teams in history, who do you think will play goalie miller or bolyes
This "best team in history" is off to a very slow start!!!!!!!

SHE CAN NOT WIN THE BIG ONE!!!!
That is a completely misinformed reply! She has done it before. Another moron that thinks losses are always the goalies fault and wins has little to do with them.

If Molly Schaus is the goalie for Team USA than Canada wins. SHE CAN NOT WIN THE BIG ONE!!!!
An exhibition against a college team is "the big one"?

Didn't see the game against UNH as I was driving to Boston but looks like clearly there is going to be some adjustment as the freshmen grow into their roles.

I'm not one to defend BC, but they were clearly saying it could be one of the best BC teams in history. Considering that the best BC teams thus far are generally considered to have over achieved, and the on paper talent of this year's squad, it is not an unrealistic assessment.

It still remains to be seen whether King can coach up that talent, a criticism their has often been leveled at her on these boards.

Seemingly conflicting statements. You say that coach King's teams are generally considered to have over-achieved, but yet she's often been criticized for not coaching up her teams' talent? If both are true then it seems that the criticism has been unwarranted.

Yes, I considered the implications of both statements. Perhaps it is more accurate to say that on these boards (for what that is worth), people (esp BC fans) often felt that BC should have done better overall given their talent. But when BC has made the tournament, it has often been said that they enjoyed some great puck luck (ex. 2006-2007).

But from a paper talent perspective, it is hard to argue that this might be BCs best team.
