Re: Boston College Season 2014 - 2015 Thread: PART I

And that's why under a format like that i would actually support all teams making playoffs

i'm with you on this, though at this point all teams making the playoffs is kind of a fait accompli. i don't see them going back from this, unfortunately. so draw up all hypotheticals with that in mind.

Re: Boston College Season 2014 - 2015 Thread: PART I

these team are just lazy and selfish and stupid.

there are a number of ezac/ivy games that are played intra-league by are considered ooc. why joeb isn't working hard to end those and replace them with hea teams (maybe an ezac-hea challenge?!?!) has no answer.

if umo has to schedule 6 (SIX!!) ooc games against hea then they need to consider joining aha. embarrassing that is to have.

Re: Boston College Season 2014 - 2015 Thread: PART I

if we're sticking at the 12 (which we should) please just stay at 22 HE games. I have less than zero interest in seeing any more of Merrimack, UMass, etc.

those teams can odd ooc games against each other if they're having trouble

Agreed. 24 wouldn't be the end of the world, but 27 was way too high. Afforded virtually no OOC opportunities. If Maine, etc. can't get teams to play them OOC, that's their problem.

Grant's piece on BCI about ND is , shall i say, epic? Bravo! author! author!

Re: Boston College Season 2014 - 2015 Thread: PART I

Notre Dame out, quinnipiac in would be my ideal scenario for Hockey East at this point - then LEAVE IT ALONE.

Supposedly Commissioner-For-Life Bertagna was on NESN on Friday saying Hockey East would consider more expansion if necessary to solve the "scheduling problem" the league has right now.

I have no idea what he was referring to, but I assume it's one of two things:
1) lower-tier HEA teams not being able to fill all their OOC dates;
2) the weird home-and-away rules necessitated by Notre Dame's arrival

..both of which were caused by the unnecessary Notre Dame addition.

Adding any more teams to this league would dilute the product even more. Let's boot ND, bring in Quinnipiac, and if you want to add more conference games, break the league into two 6-team divisions. 3 games vs the 5 in your division, 2 vs the 6 out. Two problems solved.

I agree. Let Notre Dame fly back to the NCHC. No offense, guys, but you don't really fit in here. I understand how Joey B wanted a "western powerhouse" to be a regular. Maybe he thought that ND would be a constant Frozen Four contender. But honestly, it just means the league has to pay for flights every weekend that would better be spent elsewhere.

Joe you need to mention Mookie as the creator of that scenario :)
Thanks

The TV talkers on the Maine-nd game last
Nice were saying the same thing. Have a pod where teams play a selected extra game against certain teams.
Which sucks cause it gets us back to 27 league games and we lose all the ooc peaches that was sold to us when expansion was first proposed.

Fully agree with this. You go back to 27 and you're right back where you belong.

I'm not sure why Hockey East and ECAC can't schedule a system of constant opponents for UMass, UVM and UNH (if needed). Certainly all teams can take one of those "north country" trips rather easily -- grabbing two games against the likes of Clarkson and St. Lawrence. Granted, it's much harder for Maine to go anywhere, really, but Dartmouth is right there, and can be a yearly partner.

But what happened to the yearly holiday tournaments down in Florida? That's always good for two games against Atlantic Hockey (helps BU and BC in the RPI eventually). Maybe the budget to send these teams there was eaten by the flying costs to and from South Bend/Chicago.

Re: Boston College Season 2014 - 2015 Thread: PART I

Mookie was watching the UHN @ ND game and the nbcsn announcers said uhn took a bus (15hr ride back)

That was just because UNH didn't want to wait until they could fly out again. Instead of waiting a day to two days to fly, they got a few buses for an 18-hour ride. USCHO had something on that.

Now who wouldnt want to stay in south bend for 2-3 days?!?

next three at home...against two scuffling teams. owe lowell one. as for UVM, at minimum a split but really should be able to come away with 3-4

Re: Boston College Season 2014 - 2015 Thread: PART I

I'd rather sit between agganis and rogie at a BU game than travel to south bend

Agreed. Move women's game to noon and the men's game to 4 (or 4:30 if extra time is needed). Vermont would probably love to get out of town early before the heavy stuff flies across New England in the very late parts of Saturday night.
