Re: Boston College Season 2014 - 2015 Thread: PART I

So Silk has a concussion, believe it's his 2nd in 2 years. Not good. Past couple of games (UConn & PC) they've moved Doherty up to F in the 3rd. Really think w the TV timeouts York's going to shorten the bench on Tuesday.

Sterlippo, all caveats of them trying hard and whatever but they've been pretty terrible all season

While I encourage shots from the point, one thing i don't get on the PP is matheson blasting away from the corner just inside blue line. Not just tonight, i simply don't understand the idea. Talk about low percentage

When you take the first 5 penalties in a game you're gonna have a bad time. NU played a disciplined game tonight; BC didn't; there's your big difference.

Get back on the horse Friday.

and go NU next week.

btw - another abbreviated PP. though this one was more bad luck than anything with the too many men. still. continuing to not do themselves any favors on that front.

Frustrating.

Think for the first time in a while the group no showed.

York took McMullen off the ice starting in the 2nd period and moved Teddy up to F. The problem with that is for much of the 2nd & 3rd period York used 3 lines and essentially rendered Doherty, one of our most consistent dmen useless.

Looked like they had dead legs for much of the 3rd. Not sure if it was result of only using 9 F & 5 Dmen or what but no jump at all.

If anyone wants to take Mookie to the games monday (or give me your tickets), I'm available for a date ;)

no question, is it me or have they had several too many men penalties this year?

as to mookie, no

Didn't see much at all of this game... so maybe that is why this loss doesn't bother me much.

No loss really surprises me given the current roster issues at the top (senior and junior classes). Still tons of talent here though. Need to get back after it and learn from it. Stupid penalties will not put this team in position to win. Need to keep getting offense from the D.

It was a good run. Now on to more meaningful games.

Go huskies!

Re: Boston College Season 2014 - 2015 Thread: PART I

first, BC did not play very well. Had a good first few minutes of the game but no real sustained pressure after that.

that being said, i though the call on Tuch at end of first was marginal and certainly "helped along" to use a Brickley phrase. NU scored a PP goal on that to start 2nd. The call on Santini that led to NU's 2nd PP goal was flat out non existent. Simply not a penalty. So, not BC's best night and not the refs best night.

now, maybe BC not playing well had more to do with NU...so full credit to them. beanpot streak wasn't going to last forever but it still was a disappointing performance.

hopefully Tuesday doesn't carry over to tonight. Haven't heard anything re Silk or Linell so I guess the same lineup. If York goes to 3 lines hopefully it doesn't remove Teddy from the 6 D rotation.

heading to Lawler for the first time tonight, should be interesting
Toughest place to win in Hockey East right now. I love that high school barn. Have fun.

1-0 BC (tuch, he's gonna be a good one) but a hooking on Doherty and a "diving" on Mack at the same time, shouldnt it be embellishment?

I agree BC did not play well and despite that, they were in the game until the end. The one pet peeve I've had for most of this season is not shooting on net when they have the chance and trying to get too fancy at times or just making one too many passes when it is not needed. By almost the end of the 2nd period when I looked on the scoreboard, they only had 10 frickin shots on net at the time. You can't score if you don't shoot the puck on net more (

The other thing I notice too, Demko likes to be on his knees a lot to see the puck but maybe if he stands or crouches more, the puck can get a piece of him. You notice NU shot the puck and it went in. That is why I want BC to shoot the puck more on net especially this year with less talent on offense. When #5 shoots it usually gets blocked or deflected from the point. I wish he would use more instincts than just skate like it was a practice session. That boarding penalty in the 1st period was brutal and unnecessary by him.

As usual #5 made 2 or 3 bad plays but the whole team in general did not play well at all. This time my older brother went home happy as NU finally beat BC in a Beanpole game. But I said to him, it means nothing if NU loses to BU on Monday. I was thinking of driving up to Andover but decided to skate tonight instead.
