Re: Boston College Offseason Thread: Basking in the glow.. again

we've all been on trains that see cars ahead... they generally keep moving but hit the bell - assuming i suppose that the car is going to move

i said millions of times that i could plausibly quit working and make a better living driving around MA and letting people hit me, then just cash those insurance checks from their auto companies for years and years. :p

i also wouldn't put it past some sick bastage T operators who see a load of kids where they shouldn't be and give them a hit because he can blame them. public servant probably got some paid time off after his stressful shift.
being a citizen of the great state of Massachusetts, i get what ya saying...........but you used the dreaded A word, "assuming the car is going to move" i'm thinking that a driver for the T can't do that:confused:

i've been on zillions of trains when the don't stop, but instead take the foot off the gas -- again, waiting for the car to move :D

and hey, they have schedules to keep on the B line! :p

Re: Boston College Offseason Thread: Basking in the glow.. again

well well well.. bu kids suspended for drinking during the postseason. i guess we wont be seeing collegefan back here anytime soon.

i guess the old saying holds true... fanboys in glass houses shouldn't throw glowsticks

Steve, I'm not afraid to show myself here.

Yes I was having some fun with the Freshmen 3 getting caught in the wrong spot at the wrong time.

The Terrier 4 is a different thing....out drinking 2 days before the HE Finals represents total disrespect to the Terrier program and their teammates. I hope Parker deals severely with this and if others surface as this comes out I hope he deals with them the same way.

An off season night of fun gone a bit out of control is funny more than anything else and I was poking fun. The Terrier incident is wrong, just wrong and the consequences are deserved.

Oh yea, it's real funny that a few kids almost got killed, several had concussions, the jaws of life were needed to retrieve people from the jeep, and one girl got her face mangled.

You must have one hell of a sense of humor.

Kill yourself.

Re: Boston College Offseason Thread: Basking in the glow.. again

The thing that bothered me the most in this whole incident was the way the media and the T made it seem like there was drunk driving involved. IMO the students deserved criticism for the incident and I'd imagine drunk passengers are probably a distraction in a car even with a sober driver. But to me, when all the headlines say "ALCOHOL!" "CAR CRASH!" "STUDENTS CHARGED!" the media ought to have made a more concerted effort to highlight the fact that the driver was sober. Because that makes a *huge* difference.

Correct, and they implanted the idea that BC hockey players were out drunk driving in the public mind.

The Globe can be editorially lazy. Yesterday, a V-22 Osprey landed on the Common for a Marine Corps publicity event. The headline screamed that the helicopter/airplane was "CONTROVERSIAL", but the article said nothing about any controversy.

yah the article was stupid. i suppose it was inferring that it was too expensive and under scrutiny for all the crashes

the globe, a pathetic shell of it's former self IS owned by the New York Times ain't it?? there's a portion of your answer...............

Correct.

As I said to Steve, put this accident one week later and see where it is in the news with a busted water pipe creating an epic mess and some nitwit trying to blow up Times Square. Would have been a footnote. But... last weekend was terribly slow...

Now Nick, I thought you might have said on EA that this story was bigger than what I thought. Completely agree with your post here, but I think it was terribly overblown and not reported accurately in headlines/news leads from the start.

Yeah I can't wait to try out that "allergic to alcohol" excuse. Oh and tell Office Dumbass I got a house on the ocean for him up here in VT.

The media could have made more of an effort to highlight she was sober, but then what proof was there of that? About the same proof that she wasn't and what's a better headline. After all, they changed the name from the "news" to the "media" for the same reason the WWF changed to the WWE. It's misleading.

Re: Boston College Offseason Thread: Basking in the glow.. again

Let's try something here. Don't feed the troll, guys.

Well, the discussion there was whether it was a big story. Being the lead story locally on tv, all over the papers, and even on the front page of ESPN for a few hours. You can bet it was big.

But... absolutely this was overblown and was not even reported fairly. Without a doubt. And obviously, as we're seeing now, the "facts" now seem to be in question.

A general request to my fellow BC fans: Try to stay out of the BU thread unless you have something productive to add. No use in fanning the flames and trolling over there.
