Boston College: It's Trophy Time

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

We take another 9 penalties last night, but IMO, there were some real softies called against us. It's like HE officials make calls to keep the other team in the game. I'm not saying that's the case. I'm just saying HE officiating sucks. :D

As is usually the case, I believe the Eagles will benefit in the NCAA's and take far fewer penalties, away from HE officiating.

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

I'm not understanding why we wanted a ND win? If ND won they would have 32 points with the possibility of 36 after next weekend. We would have had to sweep Lowell (I don't know who wins the tiebreaker if BC/ND both have 36 points), but either way, with the PC win, their maximum points with a sweep next week is 35.
If we win just one game vs Lowell, we have 35 points and win the tie breaker vs PC.

The PC win is the easier road for BC to the RS title as I see it. Am I missing something?

No! I mis-counted points. It's a Southie High thing.

see? Son of Southie was drinking Bear Republic before me yesterday. I read his post , never looked, and made an arse of myself on EA. hahahahhahahhaha!! that word assume again...... that's a sample of the "new math" they were teachin ya at Southie high?

Did you go up to Burlington ?

Tough 2 games but happy with the sweep.

Went to Stowe to ski but started to rain in the afternoon (
We were soaked (

3 of 4 vs UML won't be bad either

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

I know I posted "I didn't believe BC was an NCAA type of team" a few weeks back.

They have the talent to do it. That is for sure. I'm contradicting myself even with that statement.

My point was... I don't THINK they will win it all. Do they stand a chance? Yes. But I don't think this is a BC year. For some reason it just doesn't feel that way for me. I've been wrong plenty of times before and I'm the furthest thing from an Eagle hater. I tend to root for any team beside BU that makes the national tourney. I'd actually like to see BC win. So I wasn't just showing hate and shade on the Eagles.

Just wanted to clarify. So when Northeastern loses in the first round even with home ice... I still do hope a Boston or HE team makes it that doesn't have a Terrier as a logo.

This team has what it takes to go all the way, IMO. When they put their mind to it they can dominate an opponent, 4 lines deep, like few college teams I have ever seen. Highly skilled. They don't have the Gionta, Gerbe, Gaudreau type 'go to' player, but they don't need one. Offense, defense, net... exceptional in all areas. Very good hockey team.

It is a really interesting team - I always find it interesting to compare and contrast to previous BC teams. They are always different. This team just finds ways to win and they have a good amount of depth. 4 losses at this point in time is impressive and yet they don't seem to be blowing the socks off of most teams most nights. They manage to grind out wins and turn bad performances into ties rather than losses. A lot of the old juggernaut teams used to underachieve in the RS and while it was apparent they should obliterate the competition they never did that too often and then finally got on their postseason runs. This team is so different.

I looked back as far as I could on HE Online and compared number of losses as of Feb 23rd to other teams. Only 2004 was better, at this point in the season that team had only 3 losses. 2014 was on par with this one, posting only 4 losses up to this point. The last two national champs at BC each had 10 losses as of 2/23. Average number of losses by this date going back to 1998-1999 is 8.

These guys seem to quietly be going about their business. You could make an argument they would be killing teams if they stopped with their penalties.

Think of it this way. Yale and providence won titles when they weren't even playing well going into it. They **** near missed the tourney altogether. Obviously we aren't saying BC will win it all, but I really don't think there's a team that has a "better" chance. I think BC has as good a chance as anyone else. Doesn't mean it will happen.

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

Ya but knowing BC/city of Boston, who knows when it will be completed. We'll see.

With Menino out and Walsh in, BC will be getting this stuff done quickly while he is still in office. Menino had the BRA so far up his butt it was absurd and he did not want BC building for whatever strange reason. Walsh obviously is a BC guy and will allow this stuff to get done.

Have to figure the construction on softball, baseball will need to happen first before you can build on their current "fields" to put in the Fieldhouse. With that puzzle movement, they need to start yesterday.

.

Was Menino the Mayor of Boston AND Chestnut Hill?

Also, I'll second nufan2001

"So when Northeastern loses in the first round even with home ice... I still do hope a Boston or HE team makes it that doesn't have a Terrier as a logo"

We've both been around long enough to recognize the "real deal" vs. "the "pretender".
